Is Captain Marvel In Guardians Of The Galaxy 2? Here What James Gunn Says

fb share tweet share

Captain MarvelWe may be more than two years away from Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but that’s not going to stop anyone from wondering who is going to appear in Marvel’s next cosmic adventure. There are lots of things to consider, like the identity of Peter Quill’s father, who director James Gunn’s favorite character is, and what new superheroes will join the fray. Over the weekend, Gunn participated in a Q&A session and shed a little bit of light on the film, including at least one character who won’t appear.

When Marvel made that big announcement laying out Phase 3 of their Cinematic Universe (which has since been rearranged due to Spider-Man returning home), one of the new additions was Captain Marvel, who will get her own movie on November 2, 2018. She plays a key part in the deep space side of Marvel’s comics, and many suspected she could show up in Guardians 2. Gunn has said this isn’t the case before, and reiterated that fact this weekend.

Here’s What Avengers: Age Of Ultron Would Look Like With Spider-Man

Now that it’s official that Spider-Man is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all that remains is for fans to wait until he shows up. But don’t worry, in the interim there will be plenty to talk about, including his age, race, whether or not they’re going to show his origin story (again), and much more. What we’ve heard is that he’ll show up first in Captain America: Civil War (which makes sense, he plays a part in that story arc and has a great moment we can’t wait to see on screen) and then get his own solo movie. There are still people out there who think Spidey will show up in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and while that seems highly unlikely, check out this video that inserts the web-slinger from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 into the latest Age of Ultron trailer.

Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Will Feature James Gunn’s Favorite Character

guardians of the galaxyLast summer, Guardians of the Galaxy opened up a whole new avenue for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to explore. Now that it’s fully ensconced in deep space, there are tons of new storylines, planets, and new creatures to explore, and one of the things fans are eager see are which new characters show up in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Everyone has their beloved players they want to see in action, and that includes director James Gunn, who is in the unusual position of making this a reality, and he says he’s bringing his favorite out to play next time.

Guardians 2 doesn’t open until May 5, 2017, but Gunn already knows what story he wants to tell, and even though the execs at Marvel called it “risky” when he pitched it to them, they apparently signed off—the first film was more of a risk than the studio has ever taken, adapting one of their lesser known comics, and that paid off big time.

Teasers for movie trailers aren’t all that unusual anymore. Hell, a new trailer for a highly anticipated movie gets way more fanfare than the release of a lot of smaller films. The latest case in point is Avengers: Age of Ultron. A new trailer drops Thursday, but in advance of that, we’ve got this quick snippet of new footage to check out, as well as your first look at some of the cardboard cutouts you’ll see hanging out at theaters between now and when the film opens on May 1.

There’s not really much in the way of revelations in this video, but the few brief glimpses we see here are tense and full of action and should be at least enough to sustain you until Thursday. Disney-owned ABC is using what is sure to be one of the biggest movies of 2015 to hype their wares, and the new Age of Ultron trailer debuts this Thursday, March 5, during the premiere of their new series, American Crime. That’s one way to get people who don’t care about your show to tune in.

Check Out Hulk, Black Widow, Thor, And Nick Fury’s Age Of Ultron Character Posters

Avengers Age of UltronWe’ve seen a couple of new posters for Avengers: Age of Ultron drop over the last few days. There was that big chaotic jumble where all the members of the team show up, surrounded by a swirling cloud of Ultron’s flying robotic goons. There’s just too much going on. After that, we got a Iron Man character poster, and now another handful of the core members have their own one sheets. Also, like the last one, they’re way better than the messy collective offering.
