A24′ has just released its first look at the new Jennifer Lawrence film Causeway online. The actress stars as a military engineer named Lynsey, who returns to the United States from Afghanistan following a severe brain injury due to an IED explosion. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Causeway is directed by Lila Neugebauer, who is making her feature film debut. Before the Jennifer Lawrence-led drama, Neugebauer worked on Broadway productions. Causeway is written by Ottessa Moshfegh, Luke Goebel, and Elizabeth Sanders. The film is set to premiere in select theaters and globally on AppleTV+ on November 4th.

In addition to her role in Causeway, Jennifer Lawrence will re-team with her Don’t Look Up director Adam McKay in an Apple Original Film titled Bad Blood. The project centers on the rise and fall of the multibillion-dollar startup Theranos created by Elizabeth Holmes. The disgraced Silicon Valley entrepreneur was on trial for fraud when the project was announced.

Jennifer Lawrence broke into the industry following her award-nominated performance in 2010’s Winter’s Bone. The coming-of-age mystery drama put the actress on the map and solidified her spot in Hollywood. Afterward, Lawrence was chosen to play Katniss Everdeen in the YA film adaptation The Hunger Games.

The franchise gave Jennifer Lawrence much clout in the industry. Hunger Games became one of Lions Gate Entertainment’s most successful franchises. It ranks #21 on the list of highest-grossing film franchises in history.

The success of Hunger Games convinced the studio to greenlight a prequel not starring Jennifer Lawrence. Based on the novel of the same name, The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes tells the origin story of the main antagonist of the original franchise, President Coriolanus Snow. It was recently announced that Snow White and West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler would star in one of the lead roles.

While Jennifer Lawrence’s time in the Hunger Games world may be over, that doesn’t mean the actress hasn’t kept busy. In 2021, Lawrence co-starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Don’t Look Up, which won Best Original Screenplay at the 74th Writers Guild of America Awards. Lawrence earned several nominations for her role, including Best Actress at the 2022 Critics Choice Movie Awards.

Not many had quite the fiery career as Jennifer Lawrence had at such an early age. At one point, Lawrence felt fans had gotten tired of seeing her on screen. She even admitted that the quality of her performances was taking a downturn after a while and that fans believed she needed to take a break.

And it’s understandable, considering Jennifer Lawrence has been acting since childhood. After being spotted by a talent scout at 14, she and her family moved to LA. Her first major was as a prominent cast member in the Warner Bros. television production, The Bill Engvall Show.

Since then, it’s been a non-stop ride for Jennifer Lawrence. Not to mention many comic-book fans were not thrilled with her performance as Mystique in the X-Men films. She’s recently chosen smaller projects to fill her time.

Here’s hoping the A24 project will be one that can prove to doubters that Jennifer Lawrence is still a talented actress in Hollywood.
