Fans keen to catch a glimpse of Ryan Reynold’s new sci-fi film The Adam Project need wait no longer. A report from Comicbook notes that Netflix has released a series of images of the new Reynold’s thriller that also co-stars Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana. Not only that, but Netflix has released a few plot details for fans to chew on.

The film is set to be released on the streaming giant Netflix on the 11th of March, with a limited theater run a week prior. It is just one of a number of future projects featuring Ryan Reynolds that will be gracing the big and small screen, despite the actor reportedly taking a break. The images in question don’t give too much away, but they do offer a look at Reynold’s standing alongside his fellow The Adam Project stars. These are Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Garner and youngster Walker Scobell. The film is directed by Free Guy helm Shawn Levy.

The images also show that the film might be a shift in tone for the comic maestro that is Ryan Reynolds, with the above Netflix images showing mainly glum faces all around. The pictures hint that this may be a more serious project for Reynolds. However, as always with Reynold’s, it would be no surprise if there are some comic quips sprinkled throughout. This is especially true since his last collaboration with director Shawn Levy was the smash comedy hit Free Guy. Earlier this month, GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT reported a breakdown of how the film came to production and offered a few tidbits of plot details. A former Tom Cruise vehicle some ten years in the making, The Adam Project follows Adam (Ryan Reynolds) who travels in time to confront his father (Mark Ruffalo) with the aide of his younger self (Walker Scobell.)

Further plot details were reported by Vanity Fair. In their report, further light is shed on the plot. Ryan Reynold’s Adam, is a wounded time-traveler from 2050, traveling through time searching for his love interest, played by Zoe Saldana. The latter seemingly went missing as a result of a suspicious time-continuum related incident. An accident leads to Reynold’s winding up in 2022, it is here where Adam is forced to confront his younger self and his parents, played by Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner respectively.

In the Vanity Fair report, Ryan Reynold’s shares how the father-son relationship in The Adam Project is a key theme throughout the film and goes on to state how he drew on experiences in his own personal life, saying, “I have this thought about life, which is that we tell ourselves stories. So you have this central character who has told himself a story about his own father that isn’t necessarily true. I know that I’ve done that in my life. I’ve told myself stories to justify things about my father and my complicated relationship I had with him before he passed. Reconciling that is really difficult.”

The Adam Project would appear to have the necessary ingredients to be a pivotal piece of work for Ryan Reynolds. With that March 11th Netflix premiere, fans won’t have long to wait to see if the film can live up to the potent, albeit brief details that have been revealed. If that isn’t enough Reynolds content for you, the actor recently revealed details on his upcoming project with Will Ferrell titled Spirited. Spirited is a musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. So it would seem, that although Ryan Reynolds is taking a break from acting, his upcoming release slate of 2022 content is full of vigor and diversity, with The Adam Project looking to make a big impact this March.
