Ryan Reynolds has taken a break from acting. However, it appears as if the beloved actor’s future completed projects will still come out, giving fans the much-needed fix for the Reynolds brand humor. His more recent film, The Adam Project, is set to premiere on March 11th. The film will head to Netflix but will have a limited run in theaters the week before the streaming platform releases it. This new film comes on the heels of Reynold’s more recent Netflix film, Red Notice, where he starred alongside Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot.
Although Ryan Reynolds has taken a much-needed break, his future projects might only keep the actor sidelined for a bit as their release windows are enough to keep the actor on break while maintaining his public presence. The Adam Project is actually a film that had been thought of some 10 years ago. Tom Cruise was initially pegged as the protagonist, but after some developmental hell, Reynolds’ production team took over and he jumped into the starring role. The original title for the film was, Our Name is Adam. The film follows a man named Adam, who travels back in time to confront his father with the help of his 12-year old self. There are few details known about the plot of the film besides this. Why Adam is set to confront his father has yet to be revealed. Netflix will likely release a trailer sometime in the next month or so.
Joining Ryan Reynolds is the director he worked with on Free Guy, Shawn Levy. With the success of that film, which has grossed over $331 million worldwide, it makes sense for the pair to reunite for this new sci-fi adventure. Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner are set to play Reynolds parents. Zoe Saldana and Catherine Keener are also set to appear in the film in roles that haven’t yet been revealed. The Adam Project sure has the star-studded cast to ensure that it will be a success. Hopefully, the film has the same charming and silly humor as Free Guy.
Although it had been revealed that Ryan Reynolds was to take a break from acting following his part in the film Spirited with Will Ferrell, he is also still set to appear in Deadpool 3. When that film will begin production has yet to be revealed, but it is likely that the end of 2022 might see the actor return as the “Merc with the Mouth.” This will be the first time that Deadpool will enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is said to be in early development currently and there is no telling if it will be heavily involved with the multiverse and the MCU’s current plot trajectory. Deadpool vs. Doctor Strange would be hilarious to see.
Whatever Ryan Reynolds chooses to do next, hopefully, we get to see Deadpool sometime in 2023. It sounds as if the actor’s “break” is just a year to let himself relax, as he has been filming something every year since 1994. That is a long stretch for anyone having to work, and Reynolds is likely taking some time to mourn the loss of his long-time friend, Betty White.
