Based on the comic book series by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Invincible is an animated superhero series that takes its colorful, caped characters to dark and violent places. It follows Mark Grayson, a 17-year-old whose father is Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on the planet.

When Mark begins to develop powers of his own, thanks to his father’s alien Viltrumite genes, Omni-Man takes the budding hero under his wing. Under the crime-fighting moniker Invincible, Mark quickly discovers that being a superhero is not all it’s cracked up to be and that his father’s heroic legacy is riddled with dark secrets, violence, and corruption.

Invincible’s amazing voice cast includes Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, and Seth Rogen.

The Grayson family is voiced by the talented trio of Steven Yeun as Mark, J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man, and Sandra Oh as Mark’s mother, Debbie. The stars of the show are joined by an all-star supporting cast of superheroes, civilians, and government agents voiced by the likes of Zazie Beetz, Kevin Michael Richardson, Gillian Jacobs, Walter Goggins, Seth Rogen, Grey Griffin, Zachary Quinto, Mark Hamill, and more.

Season 1 of Invincible premiered in March of 2021 to rave reviews. Its mix of breathtaking action and depth of character was accentuated by its seemingly endless list of star talent. In Season 2, the voice cast gets even more insane.

Sterling K. Brown, Chloe Bennet, Daveed Diggs, Lea Thompson, Josh Ketaon, Ben Schwartz, and Peter Cullen are just a few of the big names entering the world of Invincible in Season 2. Shortly after the show premiered, the show was renewed in April 2021 for a second and third season. Fans of the series have been patiently waiting, and now more episodes of Invincible are on the horizon.

The sophomore season looks to expand upon the moral dilemmas and complex politics of being a superhero established in season 1. With an array of voices supporting and opposing Invincible and his place in the world already present in the trailer, there is a promise that Season 2 will deliver the rich characters and tense plot lines that made Season 1 so compelling.

Invincible’s Atom Eve

To hold eager Invincible fans over, Amazon released a special episode, Invincible Atom Eve. The animated special does a deep dive into Atom Eve, a matter-bending superhero ally of Invincible, voiced by Gillian Jacobs. Fans may recognize Jacobs from her roles in NBC’s Community, Netflix’s Love, and the Fear Street trilogy.

The special episode indicates that Atom Eve’s role in Invincible’s story may be about to grow in a significant way, as it does in Kirkman’s comics.

Season 2 of Invincible has been hotly anticipated for more than two years. The announcement and trailer drop out of Comic-Con is sure to go down as one of this year’s highlights for the world-class convention. Stay tuned for more to come on Season 2 of Invincible and other news rocketing out of SDCC 2023.
