Paul Rudd Has Been Dethroned As Sexiest Man Alive By Another Avenger
Chris Evans has replaced Paul Rudd as People's Sexiest Man Alive.
Paul Rudd has been replaced as People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive by Chris Evans, his teammate in the Avengers and the recipient of the legendary compliment “that’s America’s ass.” According to NPR, Chris Evans is now 2022’s Sexiest Man Alive, an honor that has previously been bestowed on such hunks as Batman actor Ben Affleck (2002), country singer Blake Shelton (2017), and the Hulk’s dad himself, Nick Nolte (1992). While there are always some arguments as to who might actually be the hottest hot man in Hollywood, it is hard to argue that Chris Evans does not deserve to be in consideration.
Chris Evans and Paul Rudd are both fan-favorite characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Steve Rogers aka Captain America and Scott Lang aka Ant-Man respectively. As both of the actors are some of the most prominent and famous actors in Hollywood, it is unsurprisingly that they would eventually end up on the top spot of the annual sexiest man alive list, given that there is nothing sexier than proven box office appeal.
However, both men likely ended up on the Sexiest Man Alive list for somewhat different reasons. Paul Rudd is best known for his comedic work, beginning with the 1990s teen classic Clueless and continuing through Wet Hot American Summer, Parks & Recreation, and various Judd Apatow movies, so he has that “funny hunk” vibe. On the other hand, Chris Evans is really jacked. Like really, really ripped.
To be fair, Chris Evans can also be quite funny, though his role as Captain America did not always forefront that talent. He last appeared in the MCU in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, passing on the title of Captain America to his friend Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), who will appear in the upcoming Captain America: New World Order. However, we also have word that Chris Evans is not quite done with Marvel yet and will be reprising the role of Steve Rogers in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars, along with pretty much everyone who has ever appeared in a comic book movie.
However, Chris Evans seems to be doing pretty well for himself even without being the heart and soul of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His first prominent post-Endgame role was in Rian Johnson’s murder mystery Knives Out, in which his turn as a smarmy, yet charming scion of an immensely wealthy, dysfunctional family was well received. Chris Evans seems to have taken a liking to being a bad guy, given his villainous role in the recent Ryan Gosling-Ana de Armas Netflix film The Gray Man.
In addition to his upcoming responsibilities as the reigning sexiest man alive, Chris Evans will appear in the holiday action movie Red One along with Dwayne Johnson. He also will reunite with Ana de Armas yet again with the romantic adventure film Ghosted, which will feature Adrien Brody, Mike Moh, and Tim Blake Nelson. For at least the forthcoming year, we will know who is the sexiest man in the entire world, and that it is not Paul Rudd any longer. Sorry, Paul Rudd.
