See Chris Evans Tease His Team-Up Movie With Dwayne Johnson
Chris Evans uses social media to tease the beginning of production of Red One, his Holiday Action flick with Dwayne Johnson.
While the jolliest season of all may be gifting us a Lindsay Lohan Christmas movie this year, it’s next winter’s Red One that has audiences incredibly pumped. And today, the film’s star and the gift that keeps on giving, Chris Evans, shared a first look photo from his time on set – which you can see above. The Instagram shot reveals Evans looking dashing and bundled up posing in front of a themed chair with the logo “R1” crafted onto it.
Captioning his cute post with a Christmas tree emoji and the words “Here we go!!” Chris Evans is making it crystal clear that filming for the production is officially underway. And while we normies are thrilled to receive the news, several other celebrities took to Evans’ post to share their excitement as well. Both Octavia Spencer (The Help) and Yvette Nicole Brown (Community) gave the Captain America actor big congrats, as well as MTV’s official Instagram account.
Chris Evans will star alongside Dwayne Johnson as well as the recently announced Lucy Liu in the upcoming holiday action feature. While the full synopsis is being kept under wraps, we can expect our leading men and woman to be on a global adventure with plenty of comedy to boot. Also joining the cast will be Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Kiernan Shipka.
While Chris Evans has no apparent ties to the production team, the same can’t be said for Dwayne Johnson who has previously worked with several members of the creative brains behind the feature. Director Jake Kasdan has teamed up with Johnson before on the Jumanji films while screenplay scribe Chris Morgan has penned multiple stories for the Fast & Furious franchise including Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, Fast Five, and The Fate of the Furious – just to name a few. With their powers combined, we’re expecting Red One to be a beautifully crafted action comedy that holds tightly to the holiday vibes we all know and love.
Outside the gingerbread world of Red One, Chris Evans is tackling an incredibly packed schedule. He has two other new projects in the works with one being a Dexter Fletcher helmed romantic adventure feature titled Ghosted where he’ll star opposite his Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas. Bringing in a stacked cast, the film’s ensemble will be made up of Adrien Brody, Amy Sedaris, Tim Blake Nelson, Mustafa Shakir, Mike Moh, and Tate Donovan.
Switching gears, Chris Evans is also slated to begin filming a conspiracy drama from David Yates titled Pain Hustlers. Based on a New York Times Magazine article from 2018, the film will center on a woman living in Central Florida who unknowingly ends up at the center of a giant criminal enterprise after getting a job at a pharmaceutical start-up. That one will see Evans working alongside Emily Blunt, Andy García, Catherine O’Hara, Jay Duplass, Brian d’Arcy James, and Chloe Coleman.
