Minimalist Doctor Who Posters Keep It Simple

The whole “minimalist poster” concept has been quite popular in recent years, with artists both amateur and professional taking their turn at reducing their favorite films, shows, or characters into the most basic imagery and iconography. Sometimes it’s a catchphrase, a silhouette, an unmistakable bit of costuming, whatever can sum up the subject in the fewest of words, or no words at all. Given how passionate the Doctor Who fan base is, it was inevitable that somebody would turn the concept toward everyone’s favorite Time Lord. We showed you some Doctor Who minimalist posters a few months back, and now we’ve found another batch that are just as good, if not better.

I love the style of the images, and choosing to depict two of The Doctor’s most recent incarnations via their sonic screwdrivers is quite clever. I’d never really noticed how much they look like lightsaber hilts until now. That could lead to some awkward misunderstandings at the annual Jedi mixer on Gallifrey.

The website for designer “Karma Orange” doesn’t seem to include any links to buy these posters, sadly, so I guess we’ll just have to admire them on screen.
