San Diego Comic-Com has certainly brought along some of the best trailers for television shows and films in recent memory. On top of the massive announcements for the world of comics, we were also treated to a ton of new Star Trek content, including the wildly nostalgic trailer for Star Trek: Picard Season 3. On top of the fan-favorite Sir Patrick Stewart returning as Picard, we naturally saw a cavalcade of Star Trek: The Next Generation stars return to proper form. The amount of characters returning from TNG has likely shocked fans. You can see the trailer below:

Each cast member is shown, including some fantastic lines stated by everyone. The first is of LaVar Burton reprising his role as Geordi LaForge. Next is Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, Michelle Hurd as Raffi Musiker, Michal Dorn as Worf, Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi, Johnathan Frakes as Will Riker, and Gates McFadden as Beverly Crusher. Missing from the above is Brent Spiner, though his role is currently being labeled as a secret. He has been confirmed to have a recurring role in the final season of Picard. This trailer should have excited any fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

It appears the trailer has also given fans about what is next for some of the characters since their return in previous seasons of Star Trek: Picard. Seven of Nine has appeared in the red color uniform, indicating that she is still running things in the Starfleet. Troi and Riker are within the ranks as well. Interestingly, Geordi has also taken up the mantle of Admiral or Commodore. Worf seems to have been promoted as well, though he is rumored to not be a captain. The long-standing members of Star Trek: The Next Generation will be spread out through the galaxy. One of the stories of this season is how Seven of Nine handles being in command.

Star Trek: Picard has been met with a ton of praise, including several Emmy award nominations for prosthetic makeup. Picard won this award in 2020 and has numerous nominations for this year’s Emmys. The series also holds a whopping 86% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, though the audience rating is relatively low at 40%. This could be because the first season was not so well-liked by audiences, despite critics praising it. However, with so many of the Star Trek: The Next Generation crew returning to this new season, the approval rating could fly up relatively high.

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 has still not been given a proper release date, although most reports state that we will be seeing the series appear in early 2023. That is usually an indication that shows, or films will see a Q1 release, which is usually anywhere from January to March. Hopefully, the series returns within those months, so everyone can see their favorite Star Trek: The Next Generation cast return. This is meant to be the last season of Picard, but that doesn’t mean that other characters cannot continue appearing in future shows.
