We’ll give you a hint before revealing which one of Daniel Craig’s memorable characters is part of the queer community – it’s not James Bond, but he’s just as cunning. If your guess was Knives Out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery leading detective Benoit Blanc, you would be correct. According to Insider, director Rian Johnson confirmed the suspicion that the man with the can’t-put-your-finger on it accent was gay, tying up that not-so-mystery for those who’ve been speculating.

According to the source, there will be a scene in the upcoming feature in which audiences will go inside Benoit Blanc’s home, where we’ll be introduced to a man. And, apparently, we’re in for a treat when it comes to who Blanc’s partner is. Although he wouldn’t give any spoilers, when the subject came up at the London Film Festival, Daniel Craig gave an enthusiastic response saying, “Who wouldn’t want to live with that person?”

Like Daniel Craig, Rian Johnson’s reaction to the sexual identity of Benoit Blanc was equally as excitable, citing that there was no one else out there who he could “imagine” the brainy detective to be with. In fact, when he was first thrown the question, the filmmaker responded with a resounding “yes,” saying that “obviously” Blanc was queer. And now our wheels are turning as to who the character is and who he’s played by.

Just like in the first movie, Glass Onion will be a star-studded event. Along with Daniel Craig, the lineup consists of Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, and Ethan Hawke. From the initial report, it sounds as though Benoit Blanc’s boyfriend won’t be a member of the starring cast, but will instead hold an ensemble role.

So far, we know that Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Natasha Lyonne, Hugh Grant, and Yo-Yo Ma are set to make appearances with the late Stephen Sondheim and Angela Lansbury making their final performances in the film. While the reveal of the mysterious boyfriend may not be listed in any of the names above, we can be sure that whoever Rian Johnson chose to appear as Daniel Craig’s on-screen love interest, will be a big Hollywood name. Let the speculation begin!

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will be another enthralling whodunnit centered around a motley cast of characters. This time, an entrepreneurial tech billionaire named Miles Bron (Edward Norton) has invited his group of friends to his private Greek island for a relaxing vacation. The trip turns into anything but the peaceful time away when one of the guests turns up dead, plunging Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) back into duty in order to solve the case.

The original 2019 film starred a completely different cast, save for Daniel Craig, who’s proving to be the glue that holds the anthology stories together as the great detective. While the first film was only dropped in theaters, the sequel will hold a limited theatrical release beginning November 23 with a December 23 release date on Netflix. With twists, turns, and countless mysteries awaiting us, we can’t wait to find out who the man who stole Benoit’s heart is and the murderer who makes another person’s heart stop beating when Glass Onion lands on our screens later this year.
