Millie Bobbie Brown, the 18-year-old star of the Stranger Things streaming series and Enola Holmes films, was recently interviewed by Variety, wherein she was hooked up to a lie detector and asked some fairly embarrassing questions — including whether or not she believes the Earth to be flat. The actress said she doesn’t, but didn’t deny once believing the opposite.

The most interesting question, however, came approximately halfway through the interview when Millie Bobby Brown was asked if she had once said on TikTok Live four years ago, when she was 14, that she thought the earth was flat. She admitted, embarrassingly, that she had said that. The interviewer asked if she still believed that, and she denied it — which the machine read as true.

However, at the end of the interview, Millie Bobby Brown was asked if at any point during the interview she lied and the machine did not catch it, and she responded that yes, she had, and had gotten away with it. No indication was given as to which question she successfully lied on — perhaps Finn Wolfhard is a good kisser after all, or maybe Ms. Brown’s views on the spherical nature of the world hasn’t changed since she was 14?

In the beginning of the interview, Millie Bobby Brown was asked to calibrate the machine by answering basic and straightforward questions such as her full name, her birthdate, place of birth, and whether she knows how to speak Spanish (she does not), before the interviewer begins to ask more intrusive questions.

She was asked whether Finn Wolfhard — who plays Eleven’s boyfriend Mike Wheeler on Stranger Things — is a good kisser, to which she replied with a definitive ‘not.’ As the lie detector registered that response as true, she added that he hasn’t improved his skills in the time they’ve been filming Stranger Things together. Additionally, she admitted that Noah Schnapp’s bowl cut as Will Byers “looked good”– which the machine registered as a lie. Brutal.

Millie Bobby Brown was far more kind when asked about her Enola Holmes 2 co-star, Henry Cavill. She responded that she believes Cavill to be a better Sherlock Holmes than the likes of his predecessors, Robert Downy Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch. Definitely an unexpectedly nice response from someone who recently claimed to delight in torturing her co-star on set with her singing voice, talking about reality television, and teasing him with her loud voice.

Millie Bobby Brown rose to fame along with the rest of her young Stranger Things costars when the Netflix hit premiered in 2016.  Before this, she was taking on child actor roles in series such as Once Upon a TimeGrey’s Anatomy and Modern Family. She was then seen in the series Intruders, which was sort of a new spin on Invasion of the Body Snatchers. She broke out after her first season portrayal of Eleven on Stranger Things, a child escapee with dangerous psychic powers. The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will begin filming in 2023, with Brown reportedly being paid a whopping $20 million for reprising her role as Eleven for the last time.
