Jurassic Park 3D Poster May Be Closer Than It Appears

As a general rule, I’m not a huge fan of 3D. It’s almost never a selling point (the one recent exception is Piranha 3D, that movie is bananas), and more often than not, it just gives me a headache and seriously impacts the enjoyment of a movie. That said, watching Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park converted to 3D sounds like the best idea ever. I can’t wait to see T-Rex eat that shady lawyer off of the theme park toilet.
To celebrate the upcoming April 5th IMAX release, Universal Pictures has unleashed this great new poster.
It’s hard to imagine a better image to hype up a 3D version of a movie like Jurassic Park. This is damn near perfect. Can’t wait to see T-Rex and the velociraptors leaping out at your face from a three-story IMAX screen. That’s the kind of thing movies were invented for.
At age 16, fresh driver’s license in hand, one of my first excursions as a newly independent almost-adult was to the local mall theater to see Jurassic Park—an act that was repeated many times throughout the summer of 1993. Sitting there, having my mind blown to bits, the first thing that ran through my head in the moment depicted on this one-sheet was, “How awesome would that have been in 3D?”
This is going to be a great experience for existing fans of the film, as well as an ideal way to introduce new generations of viewers to the true power of cloned dinosaurs. You’ll have to be quick about it, however, because Jurassic Park 3D will only be in theaters for a week.
