Spider-Man: No Way Home brought together three generations of Spider-Man movies, featuring Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, all in the same universe. But it turns out that there was one more crossover that the film almost featured as well—new concept art shows Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in a Venom Symbiote suit, suggesting that Holland’s Spider-Man and Tom Hardy’s Venom were supposed to meet in the film.

Recently released concept art reveals images of Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man in a black symbiote suit in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The concept art released in the book Spider-Man: No Way Home – The Art of the Movie showcases Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in variations of the character’s Black Suit, a classic look that has been associated with the symbiote in the comics. The images depict the hero in a black version of his traditional MCU suit design, with subtle differences like the color of the spider emblem on his chest, which appears in tan, red, and white.

Symbiotes have a hive mind, meaning that when Tom Holland’s Spider-Man inevitably bonds with the piece of Venom left behind, it will draw the attention of Hardy’s Venom.

While it’s unknown exactly how Tom Holland’s Spider-Man would have become involved with Venom in No Way Home, the groundwork for a Venom crossover was previously laid in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, where Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock found himself transported to the MCU.

While he returned to his reality in Spider-Man: No Way Home, a small piece of the Venom Symbiote was left behind in the MCU, which could imply a crossover between Spider-Man and Venom sometime in the future.

Another design presents a golden symbol; the third one is red, resembling the emblem of Knull, the god and ruler of the symbiotes in Marvel Comics.

Symbiotes have a hive mind, meaning that when Tom Holland’s Spider-Man inevitably bonds with the piece of Venom left behind, it will draw the attention of Hardy’s Venom. This setup opens the door for a potential meeting between the two characters in a future movie.

The concept art offers various designs for Spider-Man’s Symbiote Suit. While all of them feature the gooey black aesthetic, they differ in the emblem Tom Holland wears on his chest. One design features a pure white spider symbol, which is closely associated with Peter Parker’s black suit in the comics. Another design presents a golden symbol; the third one is red, resembling the emblem of Knull, the god and ruler of the symbiotes in Marvel Comics.

Originally, Venom was planned to play a more prominent role in the movie’s finale, but the creative team decided to save his full appearance for later. This decision indicates that the small sample of symbiote left behind was intended to set up an exciting storyline for the future, possibly in Spider-Man 4 which is currently in the works.

Venom in the post-credits scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Not much has been revealed for Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man film, but Kevin Feige has said that the team already knows the story they’re going to tell, and it likely has some focus on Venom, considering the end credits scene in No Way Home.

As for the debut of the Symbiote Suit, it could coincide with the Avengers: Secret Wars event. In the comics, Spider-Man first encountered the suit during an event with the same name, making it a fitting moment for Tom Holland to wear it for the MCU introduction.

While fans eagerly await more details about the crossover, the concept art for Spider-Man’s Symbiote Suit and the tease in Spider-Man: No Way Home is exciting. The possibilities for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man teaming up with Tom Hardy’s Venom are endless, and it will undoubtedly be a significant event for fans of both characters and the MCU as a whole.
