Deadline has reported that Domnhall Gleeson will be joining the main cast of Sydney Sweeney’s previously announced Echo Valley for Apple TV. The feature also stars Julianne Moore, is written by Mare of Easttown‘s Brad Ingelsby, and directed by BAFTA Award winner Michael Pearce. The film will be produced by Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss along with Ingelsby and Kevin Walsh under their respective Scott Free and The Walsh Company banners.

Echo Valley stars Julianne Moore as Kate Garretson who lives a life of seclusion training and boarding horses after a personal tragedy. Her life is upended when her daughter (Sydney Sweeney) arrives at her doorstep covered in someone else’s blood. Gleeson will be playing a criminal who forces himself into Kate’s life, revealing he knows secrets about her family.

Gleeson has mostly stuck to TV series after his final turn as General Hux in Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. Since then, his only feature was in Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway. Along with Sydney Sweeny and Moore, the talent in front of and behind the camera for Echo Valley indicates it could be something special.

Sydney Sweeney, meanwhile, has been on an absolute roll with nothing but top-quality projects to her name. Her lead performance in the real-life whistleblower drama Reality about Reality Winner is getting high praise from critics, and so is her performance in the indie thriller Americana. Of course, fans are also awaiting her return in the ever-popular HBO series Euphoria, which has yet to announce a release date for its highly anticipated third season.

Her critically-acclaimed run doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon, as she has several new upcoming projects alongside Echo Valley. Although most of her projects don’t have solid release dates yet, we do know she’ll be appearing in the blockbuster Madame Web on February 16, 2024. Madame Web is part of Sony’s Spiderverse films and will be Sweeney’s first foray into superhero media.

The plot of Madame Web has been mostly shrouded in mystery, but recent reports suggest that Sydney Sweeney will be playing Julia Carpenter aka the second Spider-Woman in the comics. Meanwhile, Dakota Johnson will be playing the titular clairvoyant mutant. SJ Clarkson is directing the flick with the rest of the cast being rounded out by Adam Scott, Emma Roberts, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, and Zosia Mamet.

Sydney Sweeney will also be producing for the first time in two of her upcoming projects, Immaculate and an untitled Sony Picture rom-com with Top Gun: Maverick‘s Glen Powell. Sweeney will also be starring in both films. Details are under wraps for the untitled rom-com, but Will Gluck is directing and co-writing the script with Ilana Wolpert.

Meanwhile, Immaculate will star Sydney Sweeney as a devout woman who is invited to take on a role in a convent in the Italian countryside. However, she learns that the convent has dark secrets to hide as well. That film will be directed by Michael Mohan based on a script by Andrew Lobel.
