Fans of both Stranger Things and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are in for a treat with the recent announcement of a crossover comic book series coming from IDW and Dark Horse. According to Polygon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Stranger Things will unite the teens of the hit Netflix series, which is set in the fictional town of Hawkins, with the turtles from the sewers beneath the streets of the Big Apple. The upcoming miniseries will bring together the iconic characters from both franchises in an exciting new adventure.

While plot details for the crossover between Stranger Things and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are largely being kept under wraps, IDW was kind enough to provide a brief synopsis to give fans an idea of what will unfold in the upcoming comic book series. It reads: “Eleven, Max, Dustin, Mike, Will, and Lucas are looking forward to a nice summer trip out of the suburbs and into New York City.” However, they must seek help from Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael when faced with a “both bizarre and familiar” threat.

Although the story features an enormous cast, the central mystery will have the characters from the Stranger Things and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchises splitting into two groups. According to writer Chuck Chittock, this will give them a bit more space “to really dig into the character dynamics.” He went on to say that some character combinations were planned from the start, such as Raphael and Eleven teaming up, while others were a surprise during the writing process.

In addition to revealing the news of the Stranger Things and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover, Polygon also unveiled some artwork for the first issue of the upcoming comic book series. At the forefront of the cover is Eleven, accompanied by the Hawkins crew, consisting of Max, Dustin, Mike, Will, and Lucas. In a sewer below them, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Leonardo stand poised for combat, weapons at the ready.

The artwork for the Stranger Things and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover comic series will be done by Fero, an experienced artist of TMNT comics. He revealed that the design of the upcoming miniseries was inspired by the same era of TMNT comics that the Hawkins kids might have read. The comic was first published by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird through their own Mirage Studios in 1984, and that era served as the inspiration for the look of the crossover series.

The crossover comic series promises to be an exciting event for fans of both Stranger Things and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The series will offer a unique opportunity to see the beloved characters from both franchises teaming up for the first time. Fans can expect a thrilling adventure that will bring back memories of their favorite moments from both series.

Fans can pick up the first issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Stranger Things when it hits comic shop shelves on July 12. We’re definitely looking forward to discovering the nature of the threat that necessitates the involvement of Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, and Leonardo to assist Eleven and the rest of the Hawkins gang. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
