Our Silver Surfer Marvel Scoop Confirmed
Our exclusive scoop about a Silver Surfer special on Disney+ has been confirmed by another outlet.
You heard it here first, and now it’s been confirmed that the Silver Surfer will be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the form of a Disney+ special. The Cosmic Circus has confirmed that the special is planned to release a few months before Fantastic Four. Right now, Fantastic Four is planned for a February 14, 2025 release date, so we could presumably expect to see the Silver Surfer special in late Fall of 2024.
The release window for Silver Surfer could mean some big things for the Fantastic Four movie. One would assume that the special has to come before the movie because they’re planning on having Silver Surfer make an appearance. Traditionally, Silver Surfer is usually introduced as an antagonist and the Herald of Galactus before eventually turning to the good side.
If the MCU is planning on keeping Silver Surfer close to his comic origins then the MCU could be gearing up to introduce Galatactus — one of the biggest and most dangerous threats in Marvel canon. Right now, it’s assumed that Kang the Conquerer is going to be the next Thanos-level threat in the MCU, but it makes sense that Marvel would want to set up their next big bad early on. Regardless, the addition of the Silver Surfer to the MCU is huge news and there are definitely going to be far-reaching consequences for Marvel’s heroes.
As far as the actual Silver Surfer special goes, there’s not a ton of information at this point. The sources confirm that Norrin Radd will be the Silver Surfer and that he won’t be on Earth during the special, nor will he interact with any of the established MCU cosmic characters. It seems like this will very much be a standalone story, but with the intention of introducing audiences to the character before his film debut.
It’s no surprise that Marvel is going forward with more special presentations, as their recent Halloween special Werewolf by Night was a hit. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will be their next big special streaming presentation, and there’s little doubt that tons of fans will tune in for that one. Along with the Silver Surfer special, Marvel also reportedly has a Nova special in the works to introduce that character.
While it’s certainly exciting news that the Silver Surfer is finally going to be introduced to the MCU, we do have a little while to wait. It seems likely that Marvel will stick to their 2025 release date for the project, so we definitely shouldn’t hope to see it anytime soon. Fortunately, Marvel is an entertainment machine and has plenty of shows and films on the way for us in the meantime.
While we wait for the Silver Surfer special to come out, you can see the next big Marvel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever when it hits theaters on November 11.
