Ryan Reynolds Joining The Cast Of A Long-Running TV Comedy?
Ryan Reynolds responded with "hell yes" when he was asked to appear in It's Always Sunny by Rob McElhenney.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have a new show on FX called, Welcome to Wrexham, which follows the pair’s purchase of one of the UK’s oldest soccer teams. However, this is not the only McElhenney-led show that is on the network, in fact, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been running on FX since 2005. Since Reynolds and McElhenney have teamed up for their soccer show, he was asked in the interview about showing up as a cameo in It’s Always Sunny, to which Reynolds responded with “Hell yes.”
Ryan Reynolds proposes in the above video that he would go so far as to play some random drunken man in Paddy’s Pub, which is the bar in Philadelphia owned by Mac (who is played by Rob McElhenney) and the rest of his cohorts. However, McElhenney suggested that Reynolds could come in as the love interest of Mac, who has now been openly gay in the show for a few seasons. It would be quite hilarious to have Reynolds show up in the series as Mac’s boyfriend, and the group could be largely stunned that Mac landed a guy like Reynolds.
Ryan Reynolds is quite a busy man, as he has seven new movies that he is currently working on, one being the highly anticipated Spirited musical comedy that pairs him with Will Ferrell. Should Rob McElhenney want to lure Reynolds to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, he might have to wait until the schedule for Reynolds frees up a bit. However, McElhenney did strike a new deal with FX to bring the show’s season count to 18.
With It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia currently working on its 16th season, there is plenty of time for Ryan Reynolds to clear up his schedule enough to at least shoot one episode of the long-running comedy series. Reynolds might be busy all the way through to 2025, but there are sure to be some breaks in his schedule to see the man make good on his wanting to be a cameo in the show. A single-episode shooting would possibly only take one day to complete, so we would hope Reynolds could make time in his schedule for that in the future.
Ryan Reynolds’s appearance on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia would add him to the list of notable actors that includes Sean Wiliam Scott, Keegan-Michael Key, Christopher Lloyd, Retta, Dennis Haskins, Guillermo del Toro, and Jason Sudeikis. The show always finds hilarious ways to bring in bigger-name actors, and we are sure Reynolds would be used in a great way. We would certainly join McElhenney in lobbying for Reynolds to appear as Mac’s boyfriend.
For now, Ryan Reynolds is set to star alongside Wil Ferrell in Spirited, which is a musical comedy that is based on the classic Charles Dickens story, A Christmas Carol. The presumed musical parody is going to be hitting theaters on November 11th, with its premiere on AppleTV a week later on November 18th. Reynolds has plenty of upcoming projects happening to keep everyone’s attention until he makes good on his appearance on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
