If you were hoping for ridiculous dance numbers and over-the-top singing in the new Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell movie, then you might be in luck, as those items seem to be the main focus of the teaser trailer for Spirited. The teaser also gives us the idea of the sort of A Christmas Carol-inspired story that this new Christmas movie is going to comprise itself of. Also, we are not sure if Reynolds can tap dance in real life, but the silhouette of him doing so looks rather convincing.

Spirited is essentially in the same vein as A Christmas Carol, with Ryan Reynolds taking on the role of Ebeneezer Scrooge, and Will Ferrell as the Ghost of Christmas Present. However, this comedy Christmas movie is likely to deliver far more raunchy humor, as is the usual case when both these comedic gentlemen are involved. Going back to the tap-dancing part, we truly hope to see them both learning some moves and exercising those moves in this movie.

How closely Spirited is meant to follow the classic Charles Dickens story has yet to be revealed, as the above trailer only gives us a small portion of what happens, but we do get plenty of jokes from both Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. Also, Octavia Spencer is showcased plenty as well, leading us to wonder if she might be taking on the role of one of the Christmas ghosts that visit Scrooge. We hope to see some of the classic moments from the Dickens story completely destroyed with humor, as is shown when Ferrell’s character can’t remember Tiny Tim’s name.

While Spirited has only given us a small look via the teaser trailer, we would imagine the full-length official trailer could be coming within the next couple of weeks, as the movie is set to premiere in theaters in November and will stream a week later on AppleTV. We certainly want to know if Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell are going to dance. We would expect Will Ferrell to sing, as he is never afraid to do so, but we are not sure if there is a movie where Ryan Reynolds dances and sings at all.

Considering Spirited is a musical that has plenty of dance numbers, we can expect to see both Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell participate fully in both, though it would be quite hilarious if they cleverly never had to do so. We certainly wouldn’t put it past both actors to find some way of not having to dance or sing at all, using the silhouette function that is showcased in the above trailer.

Spirited stars Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, and Octavia Spencer, and is being directed by Sean Anders and John Morris. Anders and Morris have worked together on Daddy’s Home, Daddy’s Home 2, and Instant Family, and are reuniting for this comedy musical take on one of the most classic Christmas stories ever told. Spirited releases in theaters on November 11th, and on AppleTV on November 18th.
