Margot Robbie is going to have a difficult task ahead of her. She is attached to a Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff film that promises to focus more on women as the protagonists, and it sounds like this project will be leaving Jack Sparrow behind for good. Audiences are going to have a tough time with a Pirates of the Caribbean entry that doesn’t feature the Johnny Depp character, but it sounds like this spinoff wants to bring in some additional star power to help out.

We Got This Covered is reporting that Margot Robbie wants to get Gal Gadot to co-star in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff. This is especially interesting since the two actresses share a connection to the current iteration of the DC cinematic universe. Robbie plays Harley Quinn and Gal Gadot plays Wonder Woman. The two characters have not met on-screen in these DC films, but it sounds like Robbie wants the chance to work with Gadot outside of those confines.

It is undeniable that both Margot Robbie and Gal Gadot have a magnetic allure as movie stars. Robbie was absolutely phenomenal in Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and she will be reprising the role of Harley Quinn in James Gunn’s upcoming action film The Suicide Squad. Gal Gadot has put her stamp on the character of Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman and fans are excited to see her step into the role once more in Wonder Woman 1984, which you will be able to watch from the comfort of your own home this Christmas.

What makes this news interesting is that there is no word as to what roles Margot Robbie and Gal Gadot would be taking on in this new Pirates of the Caribbean film. Rumors have abounded that the character of Redd from the Pirates of the Caribbean could possibly be the main character and be played by Robbie. If that’s the case, would Gal Gadot be a part of her crew? Or even more exciting to consider is the possibility that Gal Gadot could play the villain in this new spinoff movie.

The original Pirates of the Caribbean film gave us a phenomenal villain, Captain Barbossa, and it would be thrilling to see Gal Gadot break away from her usual hero role to play an antagonist. The thought of seeing her and Margot Robbie match wits and possibly swords is enough to make this potential spinoff sound like an absolute blast. As much as this Pirates of the Caribbean movie needs to escape the shadow of Johnny Depp, it also needs to continue the franchise’s tradition of interesting and compelling villains.

As of now, the inclusion of Gal Gadot i nothing more than rumor and speculation, but we do know for sure that Margot Robbie is still working on this new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. We are eagerly hoping for some kind of official update that will give us a clear idea of what we can expect from this new direction in the popular franchise.
