Henry Cavill seems to be having himself a whirlwind of opportunities, but also cancelations that are combating those new opportunities. Through our trusted and proven sources, we can report that Henry Cavill has now been dropped from starring in the Highlander remake, and Chris Hemsworth is now being targeted for the role. Cavill has now been let go from three separate franchises in the last few months.

Henry Cavill being let go from Highlander is crushing, as we think that he would have shined in that role, especially after how well he did as Geralt in The Witcher. However, we would have to also note that Chris Hemsworth is a fantastic replacement. Though Thor has been mostly a sword and ax wielder, we think Hemsworth is going to do quite well swinging a long sword.

Henry Cavill being let go from Highlander might also be because the man is going to be too busy to take on more franchises. He is going to be serving as the star and executive producer of a Warhammer 40,000 series and movie for Amazon Prime Video. We also reported that Cavill is being targeted for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. 2, with Guy Ritchie returning to write and direct.

Chris Hemsworth might have also played Thor for the final time, though that has not yet been confirmed. Thor could be appearing in other MCU properties, but a Thor solo movie might be a few years away at least, leaving him more open to taking on another franchise. Hemsworth might have a better schedule than Henry Cavill, making him the better choice to head up the new Highlander movies.

There have yet to be further updates about the Highlander reboot, other than Chad Stahelski being attached to direct, and the movie remaining in the pre-production stages. Stahelski famously directed the John Wick series, and he is also being tasked with directing the Ghost of Tsushima adaptation. Stahelski has clearly seen more value in dumping Henry Cavill for Chris Hemsworth for the Highlander reboot.

Henry Cavill may have lost out on Highlander, but he has a ton of projects to look forward to, including the upcoming Argylle espionage thriller. As previously mentioned, Cavill will also be heading up the budding Warhammer 40,000 franchise. We would also imagine that Cavill might take on more of an active role in playing Sherlock Holmes, after the success of Enola Holmes, though this is just us doing a bit of fan casting in the form of a proposed spinoff series.

Though fans might think that Henry Cavill is getting screwed over after leaving behind DC, The Witcher, and being let go from Highlander, he is still one of the biggest stars on the planet. Cavill is going to be just fine, and he already has four other projects planned right now, which include the previously mentioned Argylle movie. We certainly would have loved to see Cavill take on the role of Connor MacLeod, assuming Stahelski is going to be following the same formula for his version.
