Since she was first announced to be joining the cast of Deadpool 3 in an unnamed yet villainous role, fans have been eager to learn more about Emma Corrin’s character. Now, some insiders are rushing to the front lines to share their belief that Corrin will be taking on the role of Cassandra Nova, a part that would directly tie her in with Patrick Stewart’s Professor X.

The first taste of this theory came from Daniel Richtman who took to Twitter to share a gif of Stewart’s X-Men character from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness alongside one of Corrin. Following his lead, CanWeGetSomeToast pushed the narrative that Corrin would be playing Cassandra Nova in the upcoming feature.

While it’s important to note that neither Disney nor Marvel has confirmed that Corrin will be portraying Cassandra Nova in Deadpool 3, the theory behind why she would be introduced at this time in the saga certainly holds its own.

From what comic readers will remember, the villainous character was introduced over two decades ago in New X-Men #114 when it was revealed that she was the twin sister of Charles Xavier aka Professor X but, as opposed to her brother, wanted to use her powers for evil. Even from their time together in the womb, Professor X could sense that his sibling was up to no good and attempted to kill her before she could be born.

As the story goes, Cassandra Nova was able to survive the in utero assault and molded her life around seeking revenge on her powerful brother. Since the character’s introduction, she’s come back into play a handful of times over the long lineup of stories revolving around the X-Men but has yet to make her way onto the big screen.

With this new theory surrounding Emma Corrin’s role in Deadpool 3, it could mark a major crossover that would put the strong and capable villain in the line of fire with Ryan Reynolds’ titular anti-hero and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

For right now, the theories surrounding Emma Corrin’s performance in Deadpool 3 will continue to just be rumors considering, as The Hollywood Reporter and others noted, the production has halted due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

After it was announced that the title would be one of the few to be bounced up a few months rather than pushed back, the recent production hiatus could ultimately land it back to its original fall 2024 release date.

Along with the whispers surrounding Emma Corrin’s character in Deadpool 3, news of other cameo performances has been overflowing as of late.

As of right now, we know that Morena Baccarin will reprise her role as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool’s (Reynolds) fiancée, with Brianna Hildebrand also returning as Negasonic Teenage Warhead from the previous two movies. Also returning are Shioli Kutsuna, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapičić, and Rob Delaney.

Sadly, Deadpool 2 star Zazie Beetz won’t be back for Deadpool 3 but the news of Jennifer Garner reprising her role as Elektra Natchios from the early 2000s Daredevil and Elektra films was enough to keep audiences fully engaged in updates. Along with Emma Corrin’s secretive character, Matthew Macfadyen was also cast in an undisclosed role.
