Sarah Michelle Gellar won Valentine’s Day yesterday when she posted a picture of herself naked and standing behind a big red heart on Instagram. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer star is gorgeous with her platinum hair in a messy updo and holding a Valentine’s Day heart strategically placed to keep the post from violating Instagram’s terms of service. To call the pic a thirst trap is an understatement.
Gellar got the reaction she was looking for in the comments, including one from her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., that simply said, “God damn!” The 45-year-old actress looks half that age in the picture thanks to her absolutely radiant skin and sexy red lipstick that perfectly matches her heart. Sarah Michelle Gellar looked so good that it prompted a confused “Wait. What” response from her Cruel Intentions co-star Selma Blair. Blair was simply echoing the tongue-tied response most of us have when looking at the sexy ’90s icon.
Sarah Michelle Gellar took most of the last decade off to raise her two children, 13-year-old Charlotte and 10-year-old Rocky, but she’s back with a vengeance. The former All My Children star has a new series Wolf Pack that’s getting lots of buzz. Gellar is an executive producer and star of the Paramount+ exclusive.
Wolf Pack is a supernatural teen drama about monsters awakened after a California wildfire and the gang of misfits that have to fight them. In other words, the perfect vehicle for a Sarah Michelle Gellar comeback. Gellar famously played vampire hunter Buffy Summers for seven seasons in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, another show about a gang of misfits coming together to stop supernatural threats. Fighting monsters and looking good while doing it is just a role Sarah Michelle was born to fill.
Sarah did manage to fit in some voice acting during her hiatus from live-action. The star voiced Teela on the Netflix He-Man revival Masters of the Universe: Revelation for two seasons as well as contributing several voices to the Adult Swim series Robot Chicken. Sarah Michelle Gellar even voiced a character on Disney’s Star Wars cartoon Rebels, a show that stars her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr.
As much as fans like hearing Sarah Michelle Gellar, if her Instagram post is any indication, they like looking at her even more. The I Know What You Did Last Summer star couldn’t have picked a better time to step back into the Hollywood limelight. Revivals like That ’90s Show and The Connors are proving that ’90s nostalgia is at an all-time high.
Unfortunately for fans, Buffy is one property that is unlikely to get the reboot treatment, at least not with the original cast. Sarah Michelle Gellar has been vocal about how difficult it was to work with Joss Whedon. Even if a revival were planned without the Avengers director, it’s unlikely Gellar would return to the Buffy role.
Of course, nothing is ever written in stone when it comes to Hollywood, meaning there’s always a chance Gellar could pick up her stake again in the future. In the meantime, fans have Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Instagram to tide them over.
