Renowned horror author Stephen King currently has many projects on his plate, but he might make room for a continuation of a fan-favorite series, The Talisman. The King of Horror shared that he may write a third installment of the series that will follow The Talisman (1984) and its sequel Black House (2001), according to The Guardian.

Stephen King is looking into bringing back The Talisman series, which has gone 22 years without a new entry since Bleak House.

The Talisman, which Stephen King co-wrote with the late Peter Straub, follows the journey of a twelve-year-old boy named Jack Sawyer. Throughout the fantasy novel, Jack must find the Talisman in order to save his dying mother and defeat an enemy who is after them both. Much like other works from Stephen King, it is a captivating and creepy read that will have you hooked from the first page.

In 2001, Stephen King and Peter Straub once again teamed up to write Black House, the sequel to The Talisman. The story continues with Jack Sawyer, though he’s no longer a young boy. In the sequel, Jack is a retired Los Angeles homicide detective who gets caught up in solving a string of murders in French Landing, Wisconsin.

When discussing his work on the Talking Scared podcast, Stephen King shared that there is an idea for a third installment of The Talisman. Before Peter Straub died last year, he sent King a letter with a “really cool idea” for the third book. In addition, Stephen King has his own ideas for the series, so he said that if he does write another book in the series it would be a long one, which is nothing new for the man who wrote epics like The Stand and It.

While Stephen King has written over 65 novels and is currently 75 years old, he is still going strong, with his newest book Holly coming out in September.

Holly will center around Holly Gibney, a recurring character in several of the author’s books. Looking ahead, the King of Horror is already working on another book called We Think Not which will also feature Holly Gibney. Additionally, he will release a collection of horror stories titled You Like It Darker in 2024.

In addition to his incredible stories like The Talisman, Stephen King is well known for the many movie adaptations of his books. Some fan favorites include The Green Mile, Misery, It, and Carrie. Many fans love Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of The Shining, but the author has famously detested it since the ending is so different from the one he wrote.

The Duffer Brothers, creators of Stranger Things, are huge fans of Stephen King and are set to bring The Talisman to life as a Netflix TV series.

The Talisman was adapted into a short film back in 2008, but there have been plans for over a decade for it to receive a feature-length film version. Most recently, it was announced that Amblin Partners would be developing a Netflix TV series based on the book. The Duffer Brothers (creators of Stranger Things), who are big fans of Stephen King, are set to help with the show’s development.

As you wait for a potential third book in The Talisman series and a Netflix show, there is no shortage of Stephen King books to read. We suggest checking out The Long Walk, Cujo, and Pet Sematary.
