Ryan Reynolds has a message for Deadpool fans everywhere – stop spoiling Deadpool 3! Eager eyes have been peeping around the film’s sets around the UK, where photos have been taken that display spoilers, including secret characters that were hoped to be a surprise for theatergoers when the film comes out next year.
Taking to social media to plead with the film’s followers to take it easy on the reveals Ryan Reynolds had a strongly worded message for those posting images and other information.
Ryan Reynolds’ Instagram Story
In his Instagram story, Ryan Reynolds wrote out a lengthy message, begging folks to quit with the spoilers, saying, “Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies. It is important for us to shoot the new Deadpool film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally.”
With the cast of Deadpool 3 just barely picking up production following the wrap-up of the writers’ and actors’ strike, the leaked spoilers are putting a damper on the fun of making something exciting and surprising for future viewers.
Reynolds Makes His Plea
Ryan Reynolds went on to slam technology, blaming many of the secret shots on phones which have come a long way in their ability to capture clear pictures over the last decade. While Marvel has always ensured that its employees stay tight-lipped about upcoming productions, an added layer of discreteness is needed when filming on location and in public view. Reynolds continued his statement by acknowledging that, as a big picture thing, those spreading spoilers for Deadpool 3 were simply “excited” for the production’s arrival.Of course, this doesn’t excuse their behavior of possibly ruining the film for an unknowing person who clicks on the wrong link or stumbles upon the information elsewhere. Calling on entertainment journalists all around the world to help, Ryan Reynolds put out a bid that “websites and social channels” think twice before sharing any of the leaked bits of Deadpool 3. The actor rounded out his statement by saying, “I love making this movie,” a sentiment that he’s long held for the antihero character that he’s played since 2016.
Deadpool 3 Brings Back Familiar Faces
Along with Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool 3 is set to see the return of a slew of familiar faces from the last two installments in the franchise. Included in the lineup are Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Shioli Kutsuna, and Stefan Kapičić. Joining the cast to reprise his role as Wolverine will be Hugh Jackman, with Jennifer Garner rumored to appear as Elektra – a character that we haven’t seen the actress step into since 2005’s Elektra.
Emma Corrin Cast As Villain
Additionally, The Crown’s Emma Corrin will play the film’s villain with Matthew Macfadyen joining in an undisclosed role. Joining Ryan Reynolds as his character’s best friend will be the pup Dogpool who, in Deadpool 3, will be gender-swapped from the comics, and played by a lovable pooch named Peggy.
Deadpool 3 Doesn’t Hit Theaters Until July 2024
Shooting a movie or television show on location certainly poses its own set of problems – just ask Game of Thrones whose production team did everything it could to fool fans from guessing how the series would turn out. Ryan Reynolds and the rest of the creative team and cast have been hard at work to bring the beloved crass-talking hero back to screens for another round in Deadpool 3, and the least fans can do is honor the actor’s request to not ruin the story for the rest of the fandom.
