The Star Wars Universe continues to create unique spinoffs and stories to add to the beloved franchise. Disney Plus has been the top streaming site that premieres Star Wars series, including The Mandalorian. The show premiered its first season in 2019, and was the first live-action series to be added into the Star Wars franchise. The show received incredible reviews while also being nominated for a list of awards since its initial release. The show has only run two full seasons, with a third season set to release this year. However, The Mandalorian finale is no longer the most popular series finale on the streaming site. The Book of Boba Fett just surpassed the series as the top viewed finale on Disney Plus.

The Book of Boba Fett closed up the first season with extremely high viewership. According to Deadline, Samba TV released that the series had a 36% higher viewership than the second series finale of The Mandalorian, which premiered back in 2020. The Book of Boba Fett is actually a spinoff series based on The Mandalorian, with the last few episodes of the first season setting up a storyline for the season 3 premiere of The Mandalorian. According to Deadline, Samba TV’s Head of Measurement, Cole Strain, discussed the high views and how Disney’s creativeness has helped draw in a large audience. “…Disney has done a great job creating strong original content that keeps viewers engaged and coming back for more.” However, according to MovieWeb, The Book of Boba Fett saw a small drop in viewership in the finale from its initial first episode.

There is still no official release date of when the third season of The Mandalorian will premiere on Disney Plus, according to Inverse. But that doesn’t mean fans will lose interest in the series any time soon. The show received very positive reviews over the course of its two seasons. The series has a score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Mandalorian also received nominations such as a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, a Golden Globe Award, a British Academy Television Award, and many more. But what makes this specific Star Wars series stand out? The production was very well made, and used breakthrough technology in the industry, such as real time rendering.

The Mandalorian takes place after the fall of the Galactic Empire, and follows the character, the Mandalorian, as he makes his way through the outer areas of the galaxy, away from the rule of the New Republic. The Mandalorian is played by actor Pedro Pascal, who played roles in Narcos and Wonder Woman 1984. Other stars in the series include Temuera Morrison and Carl Weathers. The show is currently in the production stages for its third season, which will also premiere on Disney Plus.

The Star Wars Universe has always captivated audiences for years. As Disney Plus grows, they’re expanding the number of spinoff series that focus on various characters from the franchise. The Mandalorian not only has a great cast and plot, but is well shot. The series was created by Jon Favreau, who has been a part of other films such as the 2019 film The Lion King and Iron Man 2. Currently, the finale of the first season of Boba Fett has surpassed the second finale of The Mandalorian. However, due to its incredible production, we will have to wait and see what the finale of the third season brings in terms of viewership when the show airs on Disney Plus.
