After James Gunn and Peter Safran were placed in charge of all new DC movie content, comic book fans and movie buffs alike have been wondering what the pair would do to shake things up at Warner Bros. Discovery Studios. According to an X (Twitter) account dedicated to Superman: Legacy updates, we might have just received our first glimpse at what that will be. A DC fan conspiracy theory has suggested that Gunn might have revealed Superman’s new suit in a recent social media post featuring their art department dog, Nora.

The social media post that Gunn posted was focused on the art department dog, Nora, who was looking beyond adorable in her own Superman suit. But a few keen-eyed fans who zoomed in past Superdog have noticed that there is something blue, red, and yellow poking out from below the table—it’s this crumpled mess of fabric that some fans believe might be Gunn showcasing the new look for Corenswet’s Superman suit.

Superman: Legacy is possibly the most anticipated film coming out of Warner Bros. Discovery in the next couple of years.

Nearly a year ago, Gunn and Safran were given the task to reboot the DC Universe. Over the course of the last year, fans have seen DC release its last handful of movies from the previous rendition and eagerly awaited to see how the new co-CEOs redefine DC film media. Superman: Legacy is set to be the first movie in the rebooted universe, and even though the film doesn’t release until 2025, it’s possible that keen-eyed fans have already seen the new Superman suit.

The DC reboot begins with Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, with Superman: Legacy being released as the first film in the chapter. David Corenswet is cast to play Clark Kent/Superman, which will be written and directed by Gunn.

It’s too early in the schedule to be promoting final looks from the upcoming film, but Gunn is known to be a bit of a maverick, and fans are wondering if he purposefully captured the Superman suit in the corner of his recent video.

Superman: Legacy is possibly the most anticipated film coming out of Warner Bros. Discovery in the next couple of years. Fans are anxiously waiting to see if Gunn will be able to breathe a bit of creative fresh air into the studio and save the DC franchise. That means that fans are eagerly looking for any updates they can find, from Superman suits to casting announcements.

Unfortunately, with the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes currently in session, it’s impossible for the studio to give casting or story announcements. However, the art department is still fully functioning, which means possible costume updates could be released.

While Superman: Legacy is still in the early stages of production (and will remain that way until the strikes conclude), the suit seen in Gunn’s social media video could be at least one version of the Superman suits being brainstormed by the art department at the moment.

When Does Superman: Legacy Release?

This early in production, it probably isn’t the final version of the Superman suit that Corenswet will wear on screen. If it is a super suit at all, it’s likely one of many versions that the art department is trying out during the pre-production phase. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to know that things are moving forward at DC as we continue the long wait for Superman: Legacy to finally be released. As of now, the film is set to come out July 11, 2025.
