Hugh Jackman has portrayed Wolverine over the span of seventeen years. His last stint as the iconic character was in 2017’s Logan after which Jackman announced that he would be retiring from portraying Wolverine in any future X-Men Projects. Since Jackman’s retirement was announced, fans have been wondering who would eventually be cast to fill Jackman’s rather prolific shoes. One fan favorite that keeps circling amongst an array of rumors is Scott Eastwood, the son of director Clint Eastwood. A fan-created deepfake on YouTube proves just how perfect Clint Eastwood’s son would be for the role.
You can watch the video below.
The video was not the first fan-crafted art that has superimposed Clint Eastwood’s son Scott over Hugh Jackman to indicate what Scott would look like as the Wolverine. Instagram user Mizuriau posted an expertly edited X-men movie poster prototype that depicted Scott Eastwood as Wolverine.
Since Disney’s Acquisition of Fox, which put the ball officially back in Marvel’s court when it comes to producing any new X-Men films, fans have been chomping at the bit to find out not only what the next project would be, but also who would get to play the next Wolverine. According to CBR, Clint Eastwood’s son Scott Eastwood has been apart of the conversation since 2018. However, President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige has remained adamant that the part still has not been cast.
According to Screen Rant, even though Feige remained steadfast in debunking any casting rumors he did admit that there has been a lot of discussion on the matter and that he is pleased with the direction that those conversations have been heading in. The fact that a new X-men project is at least on the table could suggest that Clint Eastwood’s son Scott could be a part of that those conversations. Still, nothing has been confirmed and any speculation regarding Clint Eastwood’s son being cast is still nothing more than fan-inspired conjecture.
What is clear however is that Scott Eastwood has a long way to go before he can begin to truly follow in the footsteps of his father’s legendary career as an actor, director, composer, and producer. In fact, even at 91-years-old Clint Eastwood is still working. His latest project entitled Cry Macho, which he both acted in and directed, is set to release simultaneously in Theaters and on the streaming platform, HBO Max on September 17th of this year.
In addition to Clint Eastwood’s new movie coming to the big screen, fans can relive some of his older projects currently on Netflix, including one of his most iconic westerns Outlaw Josey Wales. Or if westerns aren’t your thing, there is also Million Dollar Baby. Million Dollar Baby stars Hilary Swank as a rookie boxer whose tenacity and determination allow her to beat odds that are largely stacked against her. The film, which Clint Eastwood both acts and directs in, released back in 2004 and was a runaway hit at the box office and still remains, to this day, one of Clint Eastwood’s most renowned projects.
