Christopher Lloyd, the famed actor who potrayed Doc Brown in Back to the Future, was also a star on the reboot of Roseanne. The sitcom based on the life of comedian Roseanne Barr ran from 1989 to 1997. The sitcom would then see a revival back in 2018, with most of the original cast returning. Roseanne Barr, however, got in trouble based on tirades from Twitter posts, leading to her being fired from her own show. Instead of killing the show, ABC went forward with a spin-off with the rest of the crew. The Conners was born, and now Lloyd is set to reprise his role for the spin-off series. Deadline reported the exclusive first look. You can see the image below:
Christopher Lloyd first appeared on Roseanne as the character Lou back in 2018. His character was that of the boyfriend of Beverly “Bev” Harris. Bev is Roseanne and Jackie’s mother. Bev introduces Lou to Roseanne and Jackie in a clip, and he seems to be a bit crazy and disheveled. That is sort of the on-brand humor that Lloyd often finds himself portraying. You can see a clip of his original appearance below:
Lou might seem like an “out of it” old man, but Christopher Lloyd is anything but that. The man just knows how to make himself seem more downtrodden than he really is. Now in The Conners spin-off, the long-standing actor will once again come back into the life of the family. The episode is set to air on May 4th. The episode is titled, “The Best Laid Plans, A Contrabassoon and A Sinking Feeling.” Lou will return as the contrabassoon teacher, who has currently been teaching Mark. Mark speaks about his troubles with his teacher, leaving Dan (John Goodman) to step in. However, Dan realizes he may have more in common with Lou about Mark being frustrated. The episode will also show Darlene contemplating her life choices after she suffers a serious injury due to her construction job.
Christopher Lloyd is certainly joining many high-profile series and films. It has also been reported that the famed actor is set to take on a secret role in The Mandalorian Season 3. On top of that, he has also been cast in a film called Spirit Halloween. Spirit Halloween is the Halloween store that seems to take over every abandoned building during the spooky months of fall. The film focuses on three kids who find themselves locked in the store overnight. However, things began to get spooky, and they must find a way to survive through the night. Lloyd’s role has yet to be revealed.
The Conners is currently airing on ABC. The series was renewed for a fourth season in May of 2021. The fourth season began back in September of 2021. Despite losing the main star of the reboot series, The Conners has gone on to remain quite popular. The series was nominated for two Emmys in 2021 and won one for Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series. That might be an obscure category, but an Emmy win is an Emmy win. Check out Christopher Lloyd returning to the show on May 5th.
