See Chloë Grace Moretz Struggle In A Dystopian Future
The first trailer for The Peripheral stars Chloë Grace Moretz as a woman trying to determine what is real and not in a dystopian future.
It might be easy to forget now, but Chloë Grace Moretz really started making a name for herself in Hollywood when she starred in Kick-Ass as Hit Girl at only 13 years old. The flick was violent and entertaining in all the right ways, and Moretz as a young actress more than held her own on the big screen. Well, now she has a new series on the way and it looks like it’s combining elements of science-fiction and alternate reality that could have viewers really guessing what’s going on. At least that’s what it seems like with The Peripheral.
As you can see from The Peripheral trailer, we are initially introduced to a future that has made some advances with technology, though Chloë Grace Moretz as Flynne Fisher is still supremely bored with her life. That is until Jack Reynor’s Burton Fisher (Flynne’s brother and an ex-Marine) introduces her to a piece of technology that appears to mimic the effects of an alternate reality and Moretz’s Fisher is thoroughly impressed. But because this is a series, we know there is more than meets the eye here.
Chloë Grace Moretz soon finds out that this isn’t just some stroll through the Metaverse or something, but instead that she’s entered a Peripheral. While we don’t have all of the details about what that exactly means, we do get a voiceover from Gary Carr’s Wilf that a Peripheral isn’t a virtual reality but instead is a timeline that is just yet to happen. It’s not only real, but it’s very dangerous.
This Chloë Grace Moretz series looks sleek and stylish with the reality-altering aspect of the tech making the viewer what is real and what isn’t. From that perspective, we could be dropped into something of a cat-and-mouse game that leaves viewers guessing at nearly every turn.
The Peripheral is based on the book of the same name by William Gibson. It came out in 2014 and details a story in which there is a mystery about a future that appears to be one thing when it definitely is not. As Flynne, Chloë Grace Moretz will not only be trying to figure out just what is happening in The Peripheral, but also potentially solving a murder she witnessed during one of her first experiences with the tech.
And there’s good reason to believe this Chloë Grace Moretz series could really land for Amazon Prime. It’s been developed by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy who are responsible for creating HBO’s Westworld. The first season of that series was about as intriguing as it gets and things have maintained over the course of the series run which is now in its fourth season.
It won’t be long now until we get to see how this all plays out for Chloë Grace Moretz and company. The Peripheral is set to hit Amazon Prime with its first episode on October 21st. The first season is set to run eight episodes, running one per week until it wraps up on December 9th.
