Beloved Netflix Anime Creator Reveals Final Season First Peek

By Kevin C. Neece | Published

Paru Itagaki, creator of the Beastars manga, recently posted on social media about the third season of the anime based on his work, which will be its last. Studio Orange is responsible for the anime version of Beastars, the first two seasons of which have been a huge hit and have earned it a third season. While this is great news for fans, it is also bittersweet as this series will be coming to a close this season with no more new episodes planned after the season finale.

Third Season Arrives In 2024

The new season of Beastars is set for release sometime in 2024, but a more concrete date has yet to be set and information regarding the details of the plot are being kept under wraps. What we do know from this recent social media update on X, however, is that the third season appears to be going very well. It’s going so well, in fact, that Paru Itagaki came away from their most recent meeting bursting with excitement.

Itagaki Shares Beastars Sketch

The Beastars creator took to social media to say that they had recently attended a meeting for the anime and came away so excited that they wanted to draw Louis and Legoshi together for the first time in quite a while. They said they weren’t able to share details about what had gotten them so excited, but that they were looking forward to the third season and that fans should be on the lookout for more news.

Beastars Manga Has Concluded

As with the upcoming fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery, it might seem odd to end the Beastars anime after only three seasons, given its success so far, but the manga has been finished for some time, so the series has no further to go once it has wrapped up the end of the story. Writer Nanami Higuchi is returning for the final season, as is director Shinichi Matsumi, both of whom worked on the first two seasons of the anime. Those two seasons are currently streaming on Netflix and they’re certainly worth watching in advance of the third season.

What Is Beastars About?

Viz Media published the Beastars manga, which begins in a world of anthropomorphic animals where an herbivore student is found dead at Cherryton Academy, having been killed mysteriously. Initially, the students in the Drama Club suspect one of their classmates of the carnivore persuasion must be responsible, with the gray wolf Legoshi seen as the most likely killer. But, despite his meat-eating nature, he seems harmless enough, so dwarf rabbit Haru tries to bring out his inner beast, though there might be something more to their relationship.

Beastars Is Streaming On Netflix

Excitement around the conclusion of the Beastars anime series will only increase after the positive word from Paru Itagaki, but fans will still have to wait for more news and even longer for the new season. Still, the advanced tease from the series creator is sure to get fans talking and potential new viewers checking out the anime series for the first time. Look for the first two seasons of Beastars on Netflix with Season 3 arriving sometime next year.
