One obsessive fan even took the opportunity to “shoot their shot” with the celebrity, commenting with their personal phone number for Salma to call. Another user took the opportunity to throw in a Tony the Tiger joke, commenting, “You have a grrrrrreat year of the tiger.”

The Chinese Lunar New Year celebration marks the end of the Year of the Ox and the beginning of the Year of the Tiger. This year’s animal symbolizes bravery, wisdom, and strength; all characteristics Salma Hayek surely covets. Beginning her career in Mexico, Salma landed her first roles starring in film and TV during the early ‘90s. But even with such little experience, she received critical acclaim with her breakthrough roles in films such as 1995’s Desperado, 1996’s From Dusk Till Dawn, and 1999’s Dogma.

Climbing the ranks in Hollywood, Salma Hayek was the most sought out Latino actress in the industry. In 2002, the actress starred in the biographical drama, Frida. As a project the actress said she had wanted to be a part of for many years, Hayek also lent her skills at producing the film. Receiving high praise for her portrayal of the famed Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, Hayek received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress following the film-making her the first Mexican actress to be nominated for the category.

The last decade has brought Salma Hayek plenty of bravery, wisdom, and strength much like the Chinese Zodiac counterpart. Taking on more projects behind the camera, Hayek’s directing, producing, and acting have also earned the actress recognition. Salma has earned four Emmy nominations for her work on The Maldonado Miracle and In the Time of the Butterflies. And as for physical strength, the 55-year-old mother has plenty of muscle to boast. The Latino star has always been graced with a toned figure, however, Hayek is brutally honest about her hatred for the gym. She once told the New York Times that she just simply isn’t an “exercise person.” However, she did admit that she still works out with a trainer to keep her body in shape.

The year of the Ox was another big year for Salma Hayek. 2021 brought Salma roles in four films, including the Academy nodded films she lent her skills in with House of Gucci and Eternals. Breaking a deal with Marvel, the new year will likely find the actress busy with talks on what’s next for her role in the MCU. Salma might not have any announced projects slates for the Year of the Tiger, but we are certain the actress will embrace her Tiger stripes and continue her journey on the big screen.
