Cher Accused Of Kidnapping Her Adult Son

According to Variety, pop music superstar Cher has been accused in recently unveiled court documents of hiring four men to kidnap one of her adult sons. The court documents allege that the men were hired by the singer to extract her son, Elijah Blue Allman, from a hotel room in New York on the occasion of his wedding anniversary with his wife, Marie Angela King, from whom he had become estranged. On December 4th of last year, King signed a declaration in the Los Angeles Superior Court, a document that has become public during divorce proceedings.

An incident in which Cher allegedly paid men to abduct her own son has come to light through divorce proceedings.

Cher’s son initially filed the divorce papers against King in November of 2021, a year before the abduction is said to have taken place. In her declaration, King says that, after having been asked to leave the family home by Cher, she had agreed with Allman that they would try to salvage their marriage. This allegedly led to the pair spending 12 days together in New York leading up to their anniversary on November 30th. It is on that day that King claims Allman was abducted.

Cher’s son, Elijah Blue Allman, is the singer’s second son, and her only with one of the founders of The Allman Brothers Band, Greg Allman.

She claims in her statement to have been present when the men, whom she describes as having been hired by Cher, came into their hotel room and removed Allman from it. She describes herself at the time of the statement as “unaware of my husband’s well-being or whereabouts” and “very concerned and worried.” She also claims that she had not been allowed by the family to see or speak to her estranged husband since August of 2022 and that he was at the time of the statement “in lockdown” at an undisclosed treatment facility with no access to a phone.

King closes the declaration by stating that she understands that Cher and the rest of Allman’s family want to ensure his well-being and that she also wants what is best for him, though she does not state what she believes that is. Allman has struggled with addiction since his preteen years, a fact that he has discussed publicly. For most of the past decade, Allman has had a tumultuous relationship with his mother as he has cycled through several bouts of relapse and recovery.

Cher has not publicly commented on the court filings, but more information may come out as her son’s divorce moves forward in Los Angeles County court.

Cher has also discussed her own father’s addiction to heroin, as well as the struggles Gregg Allman, Allman’s father, had with drugs. Further information regarding the allegations against the pop star has not yet been forthcoming. As the declaration was made in late 2022 and, as of September 2023, no criminal charges have been filed against Cher, it is likely, though not definite, that these charges were not pursued.

Cher herself has not made any public comment on these court filings nor on the alleged incidents reported therein. As the divorce proceedings between King and Allman progress, however, more information may come to light. Whatever happens next in this strange and complicated case, it is sure to get attention thanks to Allman’s famous mother, though neither King, Allman, nor Cher is likely to appreciate further attention being drawn to this unfortunate family incident.
