Bruce Willis Dementia Diagnosis Receives Awful News From His Wife

Since Bruce Willis announced his retirement from acting in March 2022, his devoted fandom has been eager to hear any updates surrounding his battle with aphasia. Unfortunately, the hits just keep on coming for Willis and his loved ones as The Hollywood Reporter reveals that things are not looking great. Taking to her Instagram to keep followers up to date on the latest happenings, Willis’ wife, Heming Willis admitted, “I’m not good.”

While her straightforward message may have taken some by surprise, the 45-year-old ex-model and Make Time Wellness founder wants to share the reality of being the primary caregiver for someone suffering from dementia. In what she referred to as “a care partner PSA,” Heming Willis said that while it was difficult to get away from the “doom and gloom” mindset, she knows that she has to “live the best life that I can.”

Speaking about her two children and her beloved husband, Bruce Willis, she notes that she makes “a conscious effort every single day” to outweigh the sadness with positivity.

Still, she doesn’t want her words to be “misconstrued” or taken out of context in a way that would lead people to believe that things are hunky-dory. “I’m not good,” she says, in regards to not only being Bruce Willis’s primary caregiver but also watching her loved one’s health decline over the last year and a half. “But,” she says, “I have to put my best foot forward for the sake of myself and my family.”

Noting that she is by no means an expert in caregiving or self-care, Heming Willis said all she and others can do is “try.”

Throwing in a message of self-care for others who may be going through the same thing that she and Bruce Willis are, Heming Willis spoke to the importance of “looking after ourselves” to be better caregivers for the folks who need help. Giving out a few pointers, she told her followers to make sure that there are parts of the day that are just for them in which they “look for something beautiful” to balance out the ongoing pain and struggle. 

The last update given to fans surrounding Bruce Willis’s condition took place earlier this year in February when the family released a statement informing followers that the disease had turned into frontotemporal dementia.

Noting that she is by no means an expert in caregiving or self-care, Heming Willis said all she and others can do is “try.” However, she adds that repeating her daily affirmations has helped her be not only a better partner to Bruce Willis but also to herself.
