Hound (Autobot)With director Michael Bay releasing shots of the new-and-improved Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, it’s clear he wasn’t kidding about the film series’ re-design. The action director also took the opportunity to release more new images of new Autobots that will be featured in the forthcoming Transformers 4.

Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner said that the new Transformers film series would feature both new Autobots and Decepticons. It looks like Transformers Hound, Drift, and Slingshot will be among the characters to join the ranks of the Autobots in Transformers 4.

Hound (top image) is a Jeep that Michael Bay has described as “always rugged and reliable, one of the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles from Oshkosh Defense.” Drift (below) is another new addition to the Autobots, a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. Slingshot (second image below) is a new C7 Corvette Stingray. That’s odd because Slingshot was previously a fighter jet and one of the members of the Aerialbots in Transformers canon. All of the new additions look slick and sexy. I’m sure we’ll see even more Autobots and Decepticons in the months to come.

Transformers 4 will take place four years after the events of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. There is no official storyline yet, but it is rumored that the film will feature the Transformers’ civil war on their home planet Cybertron, and possibly even long-time fan-favorite villain Unicron.

The new film’s cast includes actors Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Brenton Thwaites, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, and Kelsey Grammer. T.J. Miller (Cloverfield, She’s Out of My League) just joined the cast and will play Wahlberg’s character’s best friend and fellow mechanic.

Transformers 4 will hit theaters everywhere on June 27, 2014, in 3D and IMAX.
