Paleontologist Says Jurassic Park 4 Will Feature A New Dinosaur

With the 3D re-release of the classic Jurassic Park (read my review), dinosaurs and paleontologists are back in pop culture. It seems like there is new interest in Jurassic Park and the upcoming fourth installment in the widely popular dinosaur film series. Looking ahead to when Jurassic Park IV will hit theaters in 2014 and it appears there will be a new dinosaur at the center of the new sequel film.
In an interview with USA Today, paleontologist Jack Horner talked about his recent job as a consultant on the production of Jurassic Park IV. While he didn’t say which new dinosaur will be featured in the new movie, he told the paper to, more or less, “hold on to your butts.” Horner admitted:
I can’t actually tell you who that will be, but you’ll want to keep the lights on after you see this movie.
It’s interesting to think what new dinosaur will be at the center of Jurassic Park IV. The original Jurassic Park featured Velociraptors, which most people have never heard of before the film was released, while the third film in the series featured Pterodactyls and a Spinosaurus. Of course, there was the vicious Tyrannosaurs Rex in the first two Jurassic Park movies.
With the recent addition of director Colin Trevorrow to the project and it seems like Jurassic Park IV will be one of the biggest movies of summer 2014. Producer Kathleen Kennedy left the project to focus all of her attention on Star Wars: Episode VII, so Trevorrow would have to work extra hard to top Jurassic Park III. (which isn’t that bad of a movie at all).
