Fox’s Minority Report Series Casts Two Lead Roles

Fox’s Minority Report continues to come together. After getting the green light from the network to produce a pilot, they’ve put together a solid cast, and today they’ve added two more new faces: Meagan Good and Stark Sands.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sands, who has appeared in movies like Inside Llewyn Davis, and earned a Tony nomination for his stage work in the likes of Kinky Boots, will actually play two roles. He will play the Dash and Arthur, twin precogs—named after Dashiell Hammett and Arthur Conan Doyle, respectively—who have the ability to see crimes before they take place.
Framed as a sequel to Steven Spielberg’s 2002, Tom Cruise-starring adaptation of a Philip K. Dick story, Minority Report the series picks up in 2064, ten years after the Washington DC PreCrime unit has been disbanded. The story follows Dash as he attempts to integrate into normal society, while still haunted by his visions of what is to come. When he meets a detective named Lara Vega, who is haunted by her own demons, though from the past, she helps him put his gifts to good use and gives his life a renewed purpose.
Good will play Vega, which means that Minority Report just found its lead. She has a ton of titles under her belt, recently popping up in Anchorman 2, Don Jon, and Californication. She also appears in future Star Wars director Rian Johnson’s imaginative 2005 teen noir Brick.
In addition to Good and Sands, Minority Report recently brought back Daniel London to the cast. He plays Wally in the film, the caretaker of the precogs who forms a strong connection to them, and he will reprise this role in the series lending a hand to Dash and Vega. Li Jun Li also signed on for the show and she will play Akeela, a crime scene investigator who also helps Dash create his new identity.
Max Borenstein, who wrote the script for last summer’s Godzilla, handled the writing duties for the pilot, and he will also executive produce for Amblin Television, Paramount Television, and 20th Century Fox Television. Mark Mylod (Game of Thrones) is set to direct the first episode, and Kevin Falls (The West Wing) will serve as showrunner. Unless something goes horribly wrong, with all of these pieces in place, you have to imagine Minority Report will get picked up for a full series, though this is Fox, so they’ll probably cancel it just as we’re falling in love with the show.
