New Info On The Halo Webseries, Forward Unto Dawn
Even though a big-screen adaptation of Halo never panned out, that isn’t keeping Microsoft from making some excellent high-budget, live-action commercials for their Halo games. Now they plan on taking it a step further with a full 90 minutes and a 5-10 million dollar budget. First announced at E3 a month ago, the veil of secrecy surrounding the web series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is now being lifted.
Forward Unto Dawn will be a prequel story that takes place during the first invasion of the Covenant. According to Halo’s lore, this probably means it will take place on the human planet Harvest, a story that was told from Staff Sergeant Avery Johnson’s perspective in the book Contact Harvest. The series will center on Australian actor Tom Green as a young recruit training at a military academy, and his character will later appear in Halo 4. Actor Daniel Cudmore (Colossus in X-Men: The Last Stand) will be donning Master Chief’s helmet, although it’s still unclear if we will see Master Chief in action or just reminiscing about the events in question.
According to blastr, Microsoft will air the series exclusively through Machinima starting on Oct. 5th, and will then collect the episodes to be packaged with the limited edition of the game. If for some reason you don’t care for Halo games but want to see the movie anyway, it will also be packaged on its own as a DVD and Blu-Ray release.
