Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will be starring in her own video game, which is currently in the works at Monolith Productions, DC, and Warner Bros. Games. The upcoming gaming title was teased at The Game Awards on Thursday night with a short trailer that, despite being scarce in detail, resonated among the fans of the actress and the DC Comics superheroine she portrays.

According to Monolith Production, as reported by Polygon, the upcoming Wonder Woman game will be a single-player, third-person, open-world action-adventure, with an original story set within the DC Universe. The game’s narrative will follow Diana of Themyscira, aka our titular heroine Wonder Woman (in the likeness of Gal Gadot), on a quest to unite the Amazon and the humans in the modern world. Unfortunately, the trailer didn’t showcase anything else except Diane floating and wielding her Lasso of Truth. You can see the trailer below:

Apart from the proposed gaming mechanics typical of Monolith’s games, the upcoming Gal Gadot-inspired Wonder Woman will feature the developer’s proprietary Nemesis System, which will allow the character to develop connections and relationships with friends and foes in the game. This gaming mechanic was previously featured in Monolith’s games, like Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor — a megahit gaming title from 2014. The same system was later expanded and used in 2017’s Middle-earth: Shadow of War. It allows players to subdue and manipulate their enemies into committing treasonous acts or taking command of entire armies. However, it also progresses the foes that kill the player, making them tougher and more challenging to defeat in future encounters.

From the gamers’ perspective, if Monolith develops the upcoming Gal Gadot Wonder Woman using the same recipe they used for their Middle-earth series — we’re in for a gaming treat and a future Game Of The Year. It’s worth mentioning that Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor won two GOTY (Game Of The Year) awards, and its sequel was a strong contender in 2017 but lost to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Regardless, the upcoming game is the first dedicated solo video game Wonder Woman ever got, outside of the obscure Flash Player game released in 2011. She’s also the only superhero in DC’s “trinity core” of superheroes (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman) who still hasn’t gotten her own big-budget video game. But this Gal Gadot version will cure that.

Batman already has over a dozen of video games under his cape — most notable of which is the Arkham gaming series. And Superman, well… Superman has that one video game that nobody really likes, 2006’s Superman Returns. It was an absolute flop due to the high expectations of the gaming community, and limited hardware capabilities of the 2000s era. Still, there was a Superman video game in development at Factor 5 which never saw the light of day. We also reported on the possible Superman video game being in development at an entirely different studio. And now Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is finally getting her own solo video game.

It’s worth noting that the “core trinity” appeared in a slew of video gaming titles, like the Injustice series, and are set to appear in the upcoming MultiVersus video game. Still, the details surrounding the upcoming Wonder Woman title remain scarce. For now, the only thing we know is that it’s in development. A potential release date and supported platform remain as obscure as the Island of Themyscira.
