Fat Thor, or Lebowski Thor as Chris Hemsworth prefers, is being immortalized in a special Funko Pop.

The popular collectible brand Funko has a cartoonish mockup of just about every character in pop culture. Now Fat Thor (or as Chris Hemsworth prefers, Lebowski Thor) is getting the Funko Pop treatment. As reported by The Direct, a Funko diorama replicating the Avengers: Endgame introduction of Lebowski Thor playing Fortnite with Korg and Meek in his New Asgard house was unveiled at the 2023 Funko Fair.

The new Thor Funko Pop joins several new additions to Funko’s Marvel catalog, including characters from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The Lebowski Thor set is available now for pre-order.

The new Thor set may prove to be a controversial addition to the Funko lineup. Lebowski Thor redefined the character’s temperament and physique as he despaired through Endgame after failing to kill Thanos in the moment it mattered most.  While fans of Endgame appreciated the vulnerability Thor’s physical condition represented, some criticized the Marvel film for being fat-phobic; the film made Thor’s weight the butt of several jokes.

Hemsworth felt that Thor letting his physique go was indicative of the character’s mental and emotional state and supported the choice. Fans celebrated the character’s emotional recovery, and a few extra pounds didn’t stop him from landing a few good blows on the most powerful megalomaniac in the galaxy. Now, what is perhaps the most controversial and simultaneously relatable version of Thor can be enjoyed as a Funko toy.

The Lebowski Thor Funko Pop is a far cry from the actor it is modeled after; Chris Hemsworth is in unbelievably good shape. His Disney+ series Limitless showed off his impressive physical acumen, but also revealed to Hemsworth his genetic predisposition for Alzheimer’s. The discovery led the actor to pause his acting career in order to spend time with his family.

Fans of Chris Hemsworth likely won’t feel the effects of that break. Aside from the Thor Funko Pop, Hemsworth has several high profile appearances on the way, including an action packed turn in the Neftlix sequel Extraction 2 and in George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa. That film stars Anya Taylor-Joy as a younger version of Furiosa (previously played by Charlize Theron), but little is known about the film’s plot or Hemsworth’s role.

A Hulk Hogan biopic is in development, with Chris Hemsworth attached to play the iconic wrestling star. Hemsworth’s name has also been in the rumor mill lately, as some believe he could take over for Henry Cavill in the upcoming reboot of Highlander. He is also suspected to appear once more as Thor in Marvel’s mega-movie Avengers: Secret Wars, a film that Funko will have a field day with.

Aside from a possible appearance in Secret Wars, Hemsworth’s future as Thor is questionable. 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder failed to capture lightning in a bottle; the film was a critical disappointment and a letdown to fans riding the high of writer/director Taiki Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok, which has been heralded as one of Marvel Studios’ greatest entries.

Love and Thunder saw Thor get back in shape, so perhaps the franchise can do the same. As fans await the next chapter in the Thor saga, they can do a little time traveling of their own with the latest from Funko.
