Ryan O’Neal Burial With Farrah Fawcett Called Disgusting

By Nina Phillips | Published

To some, the idea of Ryan O’Neal placing his final resting site next to Farrah Fawcett is a symbol of eternal love and companionship. However, not everyone sees it that way, including Fawcett’s friend, Craig Nevius, who produced a documentary about the late star. Nevius didn’t spare anyone’s feelings, saying of O’Neal’s choice, “this the ultimate act of celebrity entitlement and narcissism.”

Nevius went on, adding, “Truly disgusting. Even more disgusting than Ryan saying that he would marry Farrah on her deathbed even if he had to nod her head for her.”

Ryan O’Neal Passed In December

Ryan O’Neal died on December 8, 2023. He was 82 years old and passed away due to congestive heart failure.

Farrah Fawcett passed away on June 25, 2009 from cancer. She was 62 years old. She was buried in Los Angeles at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary.

Ryan and Farrah never married. They started dating back in 1979. From then on, they had an on-again-off-again relationship that lasted until she passed away.

A Rocky Start

They met while Farrah was still married to Lee Majors from Six Million Dollar Man. The relationship was on shaky ground already. Farrah had gained a change in attitude after starring in Charlie’s Angels, and she was no longer happy being a simple housewife.

A Whirlwind Romance

When she met Ryan O’Neal, they quickly hit it off. The two went on a couple of dates despite Farrah still being married. By this point, Ryan had already been married and divorced twice.

Their love story had many ups and downs. While they were together at the time of her death, not everyone agrees that it was a happy relationship or that she’d want to be buried next to Ryan at all.

Reconciliation

Some of those in the couple’s inner circle found the couple being buried together incredibly romantic. Patrick O’Neal, the late star’s son, explained, “Ryan was a very generous man who has always been there to help his loved ones for decade upon decade.”

In Patrick’s opinion, it makes sense that they are buried together. Though Ryan made a mistake and cheated on her, the two managed to make amends and spend the last few years of Farrah’s life together. Not everyone agrees with this testament, though.

A Controversial Burial

There were already issues with Farrah’s burial. Some of her close friends, including Craig Nevius, said that she never wanted to be buried. Instead, she wanted to be cremated and returned to Texas to be alongside her mother.

Rumors About O’Neal’s Behavior

It’s said that Ryan O’Neal was an abuser, quick to grow volatile and violent. Some people even say that he took advantage of her in her final moments by isolating her and making her sign documents when she wasn’t in her right mind. Rumors about foraging documents and severe sedation during her final months also persist.

With rumors like this running around, it makes sense that some people aren’t so sure that she would have wanted to be buried next to Ryan O’Neal. Some of her close friends have come out expressly to say that it was exactly what Farrah didn’t want.

A Broken Family

These rumors are fed by the strain apparent in the family. Only one of Ryan’s children, Patrick, attended the funeral. The other three either couldn’t or wouldn’t.

These same three children, Redmon, Tatum, and Griffin, have come out several times to talk about their not-so-great relationship with their father. Unfortunately, no matter what anyone feels, the deed is done. Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal are now buried beside each other in Los Angeles and will stay that way.
