Chris Hemsworth Joining Taika Waititi’s Series?
Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi have both been asked if Hemsworth would join Waititi's new series, and both men had hilarious answers to the question.
It is likely no secret that Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi have built up a rapport with one another. The director and actor have been together now for two different films that involve Thor, one of which has been the best Thor film released thus far. Fans would also likely agree that Taika might be the best MCU director, period. The man is one of the most renowned directors in the world, currently. He even has hit shows like What We Do in the Shadows and Our Flag Mean Death, the latter he produces and stars in. The show about pirates is one that Taika sees Hemsworth starring in eventually, and he knows the exact part he should play. According to Waititi, Hemsworth should play, “Blackbeard’s cousin Blondebeard” He added, “check [his] spam mail.”
It is also not a secret that plenty of Taika Waititi’s interviews have been chock full of sarcastic humor, so he might be joking a bit with people about potentially adding Chris Hemsworth to the cast, though that would be fantastic. Hemsworth also responded to the question of being added to Our Flag Means Death. According to the actor, “Yeah. Obviously, all these are really cool things Taika is doing on the side.” He added, “And I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s weird. I didn’t get a single text, a phone call about it.'” While both men are having some fun with the idea of reuniting for a TV show, that would certainly be welcomed by everyone. Our Flag Means Death is a fantastically hilarious show that would benefit greatly from someone as hilarious as Hemsworth. It would truly be an excellent match.
This might sound a bit pretentious, but Chris Hemsworth might also be a bit too big in terms of popularity to join an HBO show when his role as Thor might not be done either. The MCU takes up a ton of time, and years, as Hemsworth just celebrated his 10th year as the character. Though he is the star of Thor: Love and Thunder, he has been in plenty of other films. More recently, he was the star of the Netflix thriller, Spiderhead. The point is that he might not want to leave starring in films for taking on a smaller role in a TV show.
Our Flag Means Death was just renewed for a second season on HBO, and Taika Waititi might just prove our theory wrong by inviting Chris Hemsworth into the cast. Again, that would be awesome, but it might not happen. Either way, Hemsworth would make the perfect pirate, and he would be a welcome addition to the already hilarious cast of ragtag characters that are on the show. Blondebeard might be a bit of a stretch in terms of who he would play, but that would be hilarious.
For now, fans will have to wait to see Chris Hemsworth and Taiki Waititi reunite for Thor: Love and Thunder. Hemsworth takes on the role of Thor, whereas Waititi directs but also stars as the hilarious Korg, who is basically Thor’s best friend. We can’t wait to see that film, and who knows, maybe we write about Hemsworth officially joining Our Flag Means Death in the future.
