Rick and the rest of his group of survivors may think they’ve had some rough patches during the first two seasons of The Walking Dead, but from the looks of things, those experiences may be the proverbial walk in a (zombie-infested) park. As fans of the comic series realized during the final moments of last season’s finale, the survivors are headed into some truly dark territory in the coming episodes. A newly released TV spot teases the dangers they’ll face as they try to clear out a prison where the residents are still hanging — or rather shuffling — around.

In addition to some good old-fashioned ultra-violence, the spot also gives us more brief looks at fan favorites The Governor (David Morrisey) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). And while trailers can always present a distorted vision of the real thing by only focusing on the good parts, it looks like the show will at the very least be starting with a bang. Well, maybe not a bang, but a series of wet thuds and schlucking noises. They are going hand-to-hand, after all.

Yahoo TV has also posted four new pictures from season 3, which you can check out below. We’re getting excited for this, are you? The Walking Dead‘s third season premieres October 14th on AMC.
