There’s some seriously cool sci-fi stuff being produced for the web. The new teaser trailer for the upcoming webseries Dr0ne makes it look like a damn good time. The series will appear on the You Offend Me, You Offend My Family Network on Youtube starting this August.

In the not too distant future, robot technology has advanced to the point where they have created a humanoid drone that is faster, stronger, and altogether better than their human counterparts. “But in the aftermath of a mysterious incident, a damaged battle drone is forced to go on the run with its programmer to try and take down their corrupt commander.”

Dr0ne is directed Robert Glickert and stars Lance Reddick (Fringe, The Wire) and Kenneth Choi (Captain America).

Watching this trailer you can’t help but catch glimpses of RoboCop, especially in the moments where you jump into the robot’s point of view. Those screens are very reminiscent of when you see the world from RoboCop’s perspective. The special effects and robot design look solid, and this little peek is end-to-end action. There looks to be ample chases, fights, and other assorted battles between the damaged bot and enemy soldiers as evil forces try to take him down.

This honestly looks to be as good, if not better, than a lot of science fiction that’s on TV. It’s cool to see people using the internet as a platform to make fun, interesting, creative genre offerings. More and more of this kind of thing pops up all the time. Lucky for us.
