Peacock’s Twisted Metal continues to solidify its cast list as Joe “Samoa Joe” Seanoa was just cast as the physical actor for Sweet Tooth. Fans of Twisted Metal will be very familiar with this clown mask-wearing, ice cream truck-driving character, as he’s essentially the face of the series. He is also a Playstation icon, so even people who haven’t necessarily played the game may be familiar with the appearance of the character.

It’ll be interesting to see the All Elite Wrestling superstar bring this hulking character to life in a sort of Darth Vader situation. Like David Prowse and James Earl Jones did with everyone’s favorite Sith Lord, Joe Seanoa will be the physical actor for the character Sweet Tooth while Will Arnett will be providing the voice. Seanoa will definitely bring the physicality and brute force that the role requires based on the characters’ in-game appearance in Twisted Metal.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Twisted Metal series, it’s essentially an over-the-top demolition derby video game. The contestants drive heavily modded cars and the winner of the Twisted Metal competition is given one wish by the mysterious host. Often, the host twists the words of the wishes to give these winners less than ideal endings. The game series has had numerous entries, with the first being released on Playstation in 1995 and the most recent on the PS3 in 2012. Sweet Tooth also made an appearance as a playable character in the Playsation crossover fighter PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. While it’s been over a decade since we’ve had a Twisted Metal game, the popularity of Peacock’s upcoming series could certainly change that.

Interestingly, this Peacock series isn’t the first time that Twisted Metal had a chance in Hollywood. In 2012, Sony Pictures Entertainment hired Brian Taylor to write and direct a movie based on the game series. This film ended up getting scrapped due to the proposed budget being higher than Sony’s expectations. Now, the series is getting a second chance in the small screen streaming world.

Peacock’s Twisted Metal series has really come together, and with this Sweet Tooth announcement, it seems like the cast is pretty much set. The show is set to be a half-hour comedy starring Anthony Mackie as an outsider offered the chance for a better life if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. He’ll be joined by the car thief Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) as he avoids marauders, destructive vehicles, and a clown in an ice cream truck. Neve Campbell, Thomas Haden Church, Richard Cabral, Mike Mitchell, Lou Beatty Jr, and Tahj Vaughans also star. Michael Jonathan Smith writes and executive produces with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick developing the series.

Mackie is also on to executive produce Twisted Metal along with Reese, Wernick, Arnett, Marc Forman, Jason Spire, Peter Principato, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Herman Hulst. Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Universal Television co-produce. Kitao Sakurai also executive produces and is on to direct several episodes. There is no word on a release date for this series yet, but stay tuned to find out more.
