Sylvester Stallone is known throughout the world for his many roles in iconic franchises. From playing Rocky Balboa in the Rocky series to playing John Rambo in the Rambo series, Stallone has done it all. More recently, however, fans are interested in another role of his. Sylvester Stallone made an appearance in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. In it, he plays Stakar Ogord, a member of the Ravagers. Although he didn’t have too much screentime in the film, fans are eager to see his character appear in more films going forward. Fortunately for them, it’s just been confirmed that Stallone’s character will make an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

You can see Sylvester Stallone share the good news from the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 set below.

Immediately in Sylvester Stallone’s video, he states that he’s currently on the set for Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s filming the video in the middle of a contraption that is surrounded by cameras. He states that the cameras are used to capture his facial expressions, so it’ll be interesting to see what exactly they do with that in the film. It’s been previously rumored that Sylvester Stallone would be a part of the film, but this confirms his involvement. His character, Stakar Ogord, seems to have unfinished business within the MCU. Ogord is a superhero in the comics, so it remains to be seen if fans will see that side of him in the live-action films.

In the comics, Sylvester Stallone’s character is not a part of the main universe. He’s part of an alternate universe where he’s the child of Quasar and Kismet. Eventually, he joins the Guardians of the Galaxy of that universe. Some of his team members included Yondu, Charlie-27, Aleta Ogord, and Mainframe. Stakar would make his way into the main continuity sometime later where he gets into conflict with that universe’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sylvester Stallone’s character is different than his comic counterpart. He is shown to be a member of the Ravagers, an organization of criminals. However, even the Ravagers have a code: they leave children alone. This is a code that is broken by Yondu when he kidnaps and smuggles children for Ego, the living planet. Peter Quill, or Star-Lord, was one of the children kidnapped by Yondu.

This puts Stakar and Yondu in conflict with each other, and Yondu and his group are made outcasts by the other Ravagers. However, Stakar is at Yondu’s funeral to pay respect after he sacrifices his life to save Star-Lord. In the post-credits scene, we see Sylvester Stallone’s character reuniting with his former teammates. These include Mainframe, Charlie-27, and Aleta Ogord. According to IMDb, the actors playing these characters are Miley Cyrus, Ving Rhames, and Michelle Yeoh respectively.

With Sylvester Stallone making an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, these characters may also make an appearance within the film. In the past, James Gunn, the director of the Guardians of the Galaxy films, has said that they would be appearing in more Marvel projects. Whether Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be a jumping point for the team to appear in more films remains to be seen.

Besides Sylvester Stallone confirming his appearance in the upcoming film, fans were also excited about other news regarding the movie. Recently, it was announced that Will Poulter would be joining the cast as Adam Warlock. With the amount of exciting news surrounding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, fans can’t wait for its eventual release on May 23, 2023.
