Rosario Dawson

May the Fourth is here, and like all lovers of bad puns, we celebrate Star Wars Day. Lucasfilm is currently preparing to bombard us all with new Star Wars content of all varieties as part of their ongoing, very successful campaign to be in charge of all entertainment. Mandalorian guest star and live-action Ahsoka Tano Rosario Dawson gave us all her own special gift for Star Wars day in the form of one very awesome photo. Dawson is a very actual social media user and her Instagram feed tends to be full of incredible outfits and hairstyles, but today she gave us something even better. Check it out:

The photo is of Rosario Dawson in costume as fan-favorite character Ahsoka cradling Baby Yoda (that’s Grogu to you, nerd), flanked by two different Luke Skywalkers. On one side, she has a black-clad young Luke, played by stunt double Graham Hamilton, and on the other, she had original flavor Luke (also in black), played by Mark Hamill. Presumably, this was taken on the set of The Book of Boba Fett sometime during the filming of the first season. In the second season of The Mandalorian, Rosario Dawson made her debut as Ahsoka in the fifth episode, while Luke Skywalker showed up in the season finale to bail out the Mando gang. The Book of Boba Fett had more interaction between Baby Yoda/Grogu, Young Luke (played by a combination of Hamill, Hamilton, and digital special effects), and Ahsoka, so it feels like the most likely place for the chumminess.

Rosario Dawson has a pretty beaming smile on her face in the photo, and you can hardly blame her for getting to fulfill every child’s wish of hanging out with Luke Skywalker. She may be getting some more chances to do so, as she will soon be starring in her own Disney+ series as Ahsoka. The character was introduced in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the subsequent series of the same name, immediately becoming a fan favorite. Initially appearing as Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan apprentice, she eventually grew disillusioned with the Jedi Order and resigned; her new series will presumably cover the same post-Revenge of the Sith time period as The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

It also seems very possible we may see Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka pop up in one of the other most anticipated upcoming Star Wars projects. Star Wars Day also saw Lucasfilm release the first full trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi, the limited series that sees Ewan McGregor reprise his role as one of the few remaining Jedi in the galaxy post-Revenge. The release of Obi-Wan Kenobi was delayed a few days for unspecified reasons and is now scheduled to be released on Disney+ on May 27. Ahsoka does not yet have a release date, but reportedly filming began in early 2022. As the day goes on, we will surely be getting more exciting Star Wars news and teases, and we will keep you updated. Until then, just gaze at Rosario Dawson’s happy smile and think of how awesome it must be to hold Baby Yoda.
