Variety reported that Outer Banks Season 3 is finally on the way. We haven’t seen any new episodes of the North Carolina-set show since 2021, and fans have been waiting patiently. Netflix is keeping the hype train going by releasing the trailer for the upcoming season, which looks appropriately wild:

Outer Banks season 3 will continue the story of the socially divided town in coastal North Carolina, that consists of the wealthy Kooks and working-class Pogues. A group of teens that lives at The Cut work together to hunt down the legendary treasure linked to John B, the leader of the group. The end of the second season left things on quite the cliffhanger, as it was revealed that John B’s father was alive and abandoned on a desert island.

Outer Banks season 3 sees the group of kids making that desert island their home, naming it Poguelandia. The third season stars Chase Stokes, Charles Esten, Drew Starkey, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, and Charles Halford. Newcomers to the cast include Andy McQueen, Fiona Palomo, and Lou Ferrigno Jr.

Outer Banks season 3 is created and executive produced by Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke. The series has been a pretty big hit for Netflix since releasing the first season in 2020. In August 2021, the series hit the top of the US Nielsen ratings for a couple of weeks.

The week that Outer Banks shot to the top of the Nielsen charts, it managed to pull in an impressive 2.1 billion minutes of viewing across its 20 episodes. There’s no reason to think that season 3 of the series won’t pull in impressive numbers of its own, especially since fans didn’t get any episodes in 2022. There are undoubtedly plenty of people who are chomping at the bit to tune in for the next batch of episodes.

The cast of Outer Banks

Outer Banks season 3 is set to hit Netflix on February 23, so it seems like it won’t have to compete with other Netflix originals for viewership that week. The other big Netflix Original series releasing in February is You season 4 – Part 1, which will be hitting the streaming platform on February 9. This should give viewers plenty of time to watch the season before Outer Banks is released.

Netflix did manage to score a huge win by getting The Lord of the Rings trilogy on its platform, but that has been available since February 1. It’s unlikely the beloved films would cut into any of the viewership for people wanting to see Outer Banks season 3. Netflix will even get the series out before Disney+ releases The Mandalorian season 3 the following week, which will no doubt redirect the attention of some viewers.

Even if it did have some healthy streaming competition, there’s little doubt that Outer Banks fans are going to turn up in spades for season 3. You won’t have to wait long to binge it. You can watch all ten episodes of the new season on February 23.
