Apparently, Matthew Vaughn can’t get enough of the star of his upcoming Apple TV+ spy film Argylle, because he’s teaming up with him in another franchise. Our trusted and proven sources tell us both Henry Cavill and Anthony Mackie are in talks to star in Kingsman 3. They also say filming on the sequel is planned to begin in 2024, with a target release window of 2025.

We don’t know who either Henry Cavill or Anthony Mackie will be potentially playing in Kingsman 3, but there are some intriguing possibilities. Taron Egerton and Colin Firth are both expected to return as heroes Eggsy and Hart respectively, so the most obvious speculation is that the pair are playing villains. Matthew Vaughn told The Hollywood Reporter back in 2018 that his top choice to play a villain in the sequel was none other than Dwayne Johnson, but there’s been no word about it since then, and The Rock doesn’t tend to take a lot of villain roles these days.

Henry Cavill and Anthony Mackie could also be playing other agents in Kingsman 3, maybe even successors to Eggsy and Hart. Vaughn has talked about the possibilities of branching the franchise out even further, as well as tying a knot on the relationship between Taron Egerton and Colin Firth’s characters. Maybe the former Superman and the current Captain America are his choices for their replacements?

Last any word emerged, the sequel to 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle was being developed under the working title of Kingsman: The Blue Blood. Sadly, even compared to a lot of the delays we’ve seen in Hollywood ever since the emergence of COVID-19, Kingsman 3 is one of the more delayed sequels among the industry’s popular franchises. It was originally meant to be filmed back-to-back with the Ralph Fiennes-led prequel The King’s Man with Vaughn hoping to release Kingsman 3 by 2020.

While The King’s Man was eventually released in 2021, the film Henry Cavill and Anthony Mackie are hopefully signing up for, Kingsman 3, didn’t materialize. By 2021, Vaughn was saying the movie would be in production by 2022, but last year came and went without any news. According to our sources, 2024 will be the year the cameras finally start rolling.

Based on the comic book series of the same name created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, the Kingsman franchise has already drawn in some huge names to the series. Along with the talent already mentioned, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum, Mark Strong, Michael Gambon, Rhys Ifans, and Djimon Hounsou have appeared in the films. Provided talks go well, Henry Cavill and Anthony Mackie will be fitting additions to the franchise in Kingsman 3.
