Life pans out for different people in many different ways, and that is certainly the case for Dwayne Johnson, who revealed he failed in his first career.
The difference between being successful truly comes down to one thing: perseverance. Despite some people thinking that success just falls from the sky, it doesn’t. Everyone has to work extremely hard to get anywhere in life. That certainly was the case for Dwayne Johson. Long before he was a legendary wrestling superstar, massive movie star, tequila brand owner, and now XFL CEO, the man was trying to achieve a much different career path. Johnson was attempting to become a CIA operative but learned from a professor that there would be no way that would happen. You can see this revelation below:
Apparently, the sure-fire way to get into the CIA would be to achieve a law degree first, but Dwayne Johnson knew from the advice given to him by his professor, that getting a law degree would not be possible. Getting a law degree is no easy feat, as students must attain extremely good grades to even get into a school that was a respectable law program. According to Johnson, he knew this wouldn’t be possible due to his, “pile of steaming s*** grades.” Sometimes loft ambitions and goals are sidetracked, but the end result can often be so much better. While the actor and entrepreneur may have been eyeing a different career path, he certainly came out better in the end.
Dwayne Johnson could have had a dual response about perseverance in the above post, as he was also attempting a run at a professional football career as well. He spent time playing college football for the Miami Hurricanes but was never drafted into the NFL. Instead, the man would go on to play for a more amateur league, the Canadian Football League aka the CFL. He was also cut from that team before the regular season would start. However, this also led to his biggest career move yet. Although Johnson wanted to become a professional football player, he would then become a WWF superstar. It was shortly after his failed football career that the man would follow in his father’s footsteps and enter the world of entertainment. He would turn himself into The Rock and become “the most electrifying man in sport’s entertainment.” This was certainly true.
A full-circle moment for Dwayne Johnson is that though his football career never panned out in the way that he had hoped, he is now the proud owner of the XFL. The XFL is an amateur football league that was coincidentally run by his former boss, Vince McMahon. This off-brand league is about to get going once again, and the company has signed a mega-deal with ABC, ESPN, and FX for streaming rights. He has also played a CIA agent in multiple films if that counts for anything.
Bottom line, you never know where your life will take you unless you keep going, even when life gets tough. Dwayne Johnson is proof that things might not work out the way that you want, but if you continue to work hard, you’ll find some surprises waiting for you at different times in life. Johnson is now one of the most successful people in the world, even after failing at two different careers in his life. The man is a testament to hard work.
