Margot Robbie

David Fincher is ready to start working on his next Netflix film, and he’s hoping Margot Robbie will come along for the ride. Our trusted and proven sources tell us that Fincher’s next feature with Netflix will be the sci-fi thriller Serenity’s Edge. They also say Robbie is being looked at as the lead the film.

Our sources describe Serenity’s Edge as a mind-bending psychological thriller set aboard a spaceship on a mission to explore a distant planet. The lead David Fincher wants Robbie to play begins experiencing strange occurrences and discovers bizarre secrets during the journey. Her experiences make her begin to question reality.

We’ve learned David Fincher’s next Netflix film is the sci-fi thriller Serenity’s Edge, and Margot Robbie is wanted to lead the film.

This sounds like exactly the kind of sci-fi movie the guy who directed Fight Club and Se7en would make. While details are limited at this point, from what we do know, it sounds like something in the tradition of similar spacefaring thrillers like Interstellar, Ad Astra, and even Alien.

Who Is David Fincher?

David Fincher may not be the first name you think of when it comes to sci-fi, but in fact his feature directorial debut was 1992’s Alien 3.

He needed to wait another three years before the world became much more familiar with his name after the premiere of the game-changing crime thriller Se7en. Before then, he was known chiefly as a music video director, working with artists like Madonna, Nine Inch Nails, Billy Idol, The Rolling Stones, and Michael Jackson.

It was right before the streaming debut of Fincher’s Oscar-winning Mank, according to The Playlist, when David Fincher signed a four-year exclusive deal with Netflix. Since then, he’s directed one episode of the animated anthology series Love, Death & Robots and his neo-noir film The Killer — starring Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton — is set to premiere on the platform November 10.

Fincher’s History With Netflix

David Fincher has done much more work for the streamer as a producer since signing the four-year deal. As well as continuing as a producer on Love, Death & Robots, he’s been a producer on the series Voir, last year’s documentary Is That Black Enough For You?!?, the upcoming biopic Lange, and the Chinatown prequel series.

The acclaimed director enjoys a longer history with Netflix than most. Considering he was an executive producer on House of Cards — one of Netflix’s first original hits — and directed the first two episodes of the series, you could argue David Fincher was instrumental in transforming the streamer into an original content powerhouse. He went on to work as director and producer on Netflix’s Mindhunter.

Once we know more about David Fincher’s Serenity’s Edge, we’ll make sure you know.
